S triple clamp replacement
« on: December 12, 2021, 02:18:46 AM »

Does anyone have a guide or instructions on removing the triple clamp? Part number 22-07622

Nothing is as easy as it looks, and it looks like it's just one (or three?) nuts to remove.

Procedure should be the same as on most motorcycles.

Remove the top nut, loosen the pinch bolts that clamp the top plate to the fork tubes, remove.
You may need to use a soft face mallet to tap the top plate, alternating sides.

For reassembly you may find the top plate will not slide on. This is due to deflection between the fork tubes and lower triple. Make sure everything is lined up before you tap the top plate back in place.

Does anyone happen to know what size that top nut is? Measurements I took say something like 42mm or 43mm. Actually, 1 5/8", but I thought these bikes were metric.
