Zero app is *&^%ing WORTHLESS!!!
« on: June 26, 2022, 09:54:48 PM »

I wrote to Zero support because I've been unable to update the firmware on my 2021 SR.  It shows there is an update available, and goes through the motions, but when the bike's dash stops flashing the app still "thinks" it is updating.  Resetting and retrying shows that the firmware was still not updated and the update will fail again.  Repeatedly.

Zero Support recommended uninstalling the app, reinstalling and re-pairing the phone to the bike.  Android had no problem recognizing the bike and immediately paired it.  When I started the Zero app, however, it took almost FIVE MINUTES for it to recognize the bike.  As soon as it connected, however, the app CRASHED.  Again, I tried this over and over... even rebooted the phone and tried from scratch.  Still the app crashes as soon as it connects.

I wrote back to Zero support telling them I don't know WHO wrote this WORTHLESS piece of software, but they need to be beaten to a bloody pulp and their corpses left on display while they interview the NEXT company who MIGHT know how to code software!!!! 🤬😡

Copy of a follow-up letter sent to Zero this morning:

Update:  With nothing else to do, I opened the app in "Demo Mode" and played around with the configuration of the "Dashboard."  I prefer having the battery temperature and controller temperature on the left hand corners, and the motor temperature and range to empty on the right hand corners and I put the clock in the center.

While waiting for my friends for dinner last night, I tried once again to connect the app to the bike.  This time, for some reason, it didn't crash when it connected!  On the ride home the dash appeared the way I had configured it in "Demo Mode" (so far, so good).  Once I got home, since there was sufficient charge in both the phone and the bike, I decided to try and do the update again.  I started it, watched the dash start flashing, and then went into the house to watch some television.

A half an hour later I went back outside and once again, the dash had returned to normal, but the phone still seemed to think the update was in progress.  I give up, and I still hold to my opinion of what needs to be done to the people who wrote that software.
