Zero S - Is there any alternate app?
« on: May 28, 2022, 10:44:42 PM »

Hi,
I'm pretty happy with my new Zero S, however official app sucks on both android and ios, especially for european/non-imperial users.

Is there any alternate app available using same bluetooth connectivity?

There's the Metrics for Zero Motorcycles app on Android (don't know if it's on iOS, I don't own anything Apple), gives you more information than Zero's app and also has logging with graphs. If you're wanting to edit modes, update firmware, or get diagnostic logs from the bike though then I think you're stuck with the official app.

Heey,

I actually almost never use the app. firmware updates never worked for me;
I'm using an older phone with an old version of the offical app to download the logs; and set my costum drive settings

Zero Spy works like a charm for status information, can confirm.

Aforementioned ZeroSpy maintains a stable connection, and does what is promises very reliably. I use it to collect data of my trips in. csv tables:
Code: [Select]
Timestamp [UTC] Date&Time SoC [%] Bike Speed [mph] Bike Speed [kmh] Motor Speed [rpm] Motor Torque [Nm] Motor Current [A] Battery Current [A] Battery Voltage [mV] Cell Voltage Min [mV] Cell Voltage Max [mV] Motor Temp [°C] Controller Temp [°C] Battery Temp Min [°C] Battery Temp Max [°C](one data point per second)

I also have another instance running on an old Android phone close to my charger's mains socket to monitor the SoC during charging.

thank you all for your inputs.
I'm going to test these apps on my android support phone.

as I understand there's still no 3rd party app for iOs yet

I have never been able to get the Zero app to recognized my 2016 Zero SR.  I've been to both local dealerships and even went over it in a phone call with an engineer at Zero.  I gave up on it last year.  I can still ride just fine.

having different Android and iOs devices I can say this mostly depends on phone itself.
Some connect at first try, others won't.
The worst one was a Huawei phone.

regarding alternate apps, Metrics for Zero seems nice, however not updated anymore (latest update on 2019) and require 4$ to unlock graph feature..
I would support project but.. a live one!

I agree with albenex that trying a different phone can help.

You can also change the Android App version. I also have a 2016 Zero and version 1.6.50 is good for me.

Follow the indications given in the manual (see attached file).

Make the bluetooth symbol appear on the dash.
And experiment several times.

When it works, write down what you have done in order to be able to reproduce it.
