Mine has that smaller, extended-range battery installed in the "gas tank", but I'd like to remove it. How complicated a job is it? Is installing or removing just a matter of plug-and-play? Or is there also some kind of setting that has to be done to tell the computer that it has a secondary battery installed?

Physically removing it, from what I've seen from images of it, shouldn't be too difficult. I'm pretty sure it's the same as the removable packs in the modular FX/S bikes, so should be a case of undoing some bolts and then unplugging the connector. I think the bike should run fine without it as there have been people that have ridden around with a faulty power tank that wouldn't connect for some reason and they found out due to the decreased range. It might put an error on the dash though and I'm pretty sure one will show up in the logs.

I'm not positive, but based on the unofficial manual page,and circuit diagrams I've seen before, it looks to be largely the same design as the FX/S modular. If true, it means two things:

- The motorcycle should not need any programming when the second battery is added or removed.

- When you disconnect the wiring harness with all the BMS signals, you need a big dummy plug to cap off the motorcycle's connector. it will not run without the dummy plug in place. See Sam's video here: https://youtu.be/_epJxo63Vgk?t=60
