Seeking info on 2015 DS ABC 4A Fuse Holders
« on: April 02, 2022, 07:03:54 PM »

I'm hopeful someone can share a photo or info on the fuse holder and wiring for the 4A ABC fuses (to MBB and DCDC Converter) that are in the 2015 harness.

1/4-Inch x 1-1/4-Inch Fast-Acting Ceramic Tube Fuse?

After days of searching, pulling all the orange loom and electrical tape, I discovered my two DS 2013s don't have fuses in the harnesses (both are marked MNLTH MY13). Apparently when the 2013 batteries (fuses on doghouse) were updated with 2015 models, the harnesses with fuses were not.

I can trace the DCDC high voltage in + (always hot w/pack voltage) back to the battery, with only the molex connector assembly in its path, I imagine a fuse would be along here.

I'm not certain on the path for the MBB but it appears to be the wire to pin 18 on MBB1.

Update: I located a photo of the fuse holder for the MBB but not the wire.

I'm a bit confused why you're concerned, the fuse layout and harnessing changed from 2013 too 2015, and the upgrade harness you have will probably be different from both.

My concern is there were fuses on the 2013 battery for both the DCDC and MBB (along with the Low Power B+ fuse), now there are no fuses (for either the DCDC or MBB) on either the battery or the harness.

I may be over thinking it but I expected to find some sort of protection between the battery and those components.

My 2018 S has a single ABC fuse holder that protects the DC-DC converter directly under the seat that is easily accessed once you cut the zip tie on the fuse holder tube's cap. When my DC-DC component died that was the first thing that I checked, but it was OK, so I had to dive into the guts of the bike to replace the converter.  :(

That's what I was expecting to find, a single ABC fuse holder, good to know.

I thought diving into the guts was bad enough, but it beats trying to put the guts back. :)

I sure won't argue with you about that!  ;)  BTW, my 2018 Zero owner's manual actually showed a drawing of the ABC DC-DC converter fuse tube location on a page somewhere in the middle of the manual. Maybe yours does, too.  ???

The drawing was helpful thanks. I ordered marine grade ABC fuse holders, on the to install list.

BTW, I noticed your 2013-2014 posts on seeing the Police DS bikes at the dealer, those are the bikes I have. Two matched 2013 DS Police models originally owned by the Visalia Police Department.
