Location of 20 Amp Charge Fuse 2013 DS
« on: March 29, 2022, 10:54:55 PM »

I had an interesting fuse discovery over the weekend. Onboard Meanwell charging had failed on my 2013 DS. The bike had the battery and harness replaced in 2016 (with 2015 battery and modified harness) as a result of the recall.

I've seen several older posts here from people having difficulty being able to locate the 4 high voltage fuses, since they were not where the owners manual suggested they were, so figured I'd share this.

The 2015 manual states the charge fuse is inline @ 100 amps. The unofficial service manual suggests the same, stating...

"2013: the charging fuse acts on the accessory charging port, and does not disable the onboard charger.
2014+: the fuse acts on the circuit containing both the accessory charging port and the onboard charger but has a much higher limit."

The 100 amp inline fuse from the accessory anderson connector is easy to spot, but there is also an inline 20 amp fuse pigtailed from the CCU+ out to the charge cable (which does affect the onboard charger). See photos.

In my case, the fuse was a Littelfuse 20A 450vdc max inline blade fuse. It's not at all easy to get at either. I confirmed the fuse was bad by testing continuity from the CCU B+ flag terminal to the positive terminal on the anderson connector. Harvested a replacement from my other DS and confirmed, chargers all functional.

I'm still searching for the location of the ABC 4 amp fuse that goes to the Main Bike Board/Controller and the one that goes to the DC/DC Converter (fuses 2 and 3). I doubt Zero would have not included those in the modified 2013-2015 harness, Pulled all the orange loom but no discoveries as of yet.

Good news is the bike is now onboard charging for the first time since I bought it last month.
