Servcon 2019+ DS
« on: May 05, 2022, 09:12:38 AM »

Hey all, I started getting interested in the Servcon in our bikes. It looks like the cable and software is ~$600. I was wondering if anyone has tried other USB to CAN adapters. I guess I would be OK with spending the money in a situation where the bike didn't work. But right now my bike is working flawlessly.

So can I buy the software for $50 and a 1 year license, then use any ole USB to CAN adapter?

Any other ideas?

I think only the Ixxat cables work.

There is an old version of the software that works with an old ixxat cable, and the new software that works with the new ixxat cables.

The old software is not protected and you can find it on the internet or by asking the right people. My ixxat cable cost me 100 used, so not tooo bad.

:) Hope that answers your question. What do you want to do?

I think Initially I want to get a backup of the default config of the controller. This might lead to me eventually buying a second controller or broken down bike to play around with. Ultimately I would like to learn enough about the Servcon to potentially bring a super broken bike back to life.

As long as the controller is already tuned to the motor (primarily all the current and speed gains are appropriate for the motor), the Sevcon software is quite easy to navigate and manipulate for whatever you want to do. I forked out the $800 for the latest cable & software (the latter being "free" but really you paid for it in the cable price) and frankly would have paid it to Zero if they offered it when I bought the bike.
