Here are a couple of perhaps overly-positive reviews of the 2020 Super Soco TC Max.

I really wish people would stop comparing electric torque numbers with gas bikes without taking into account gearing. I was actually looking at getting the TC Max before deciding on the Zero and would like to test ride one just to see what it would have been like, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been all that much better than the best 125s. I'm surprised that someone who has ridden so many bikes would say it can compete with bigger gas bikes. I'm also surprised that someone who rides bikes for a living would make so many mistakes and have such terrible audio quality.

From watching both videos, the only thing I saw that was a blatant misrepresentation was the torque comparison with the Ducati.
While the comparison may be true, it is taken out of context. When I talk with people at the drag strip about my Zero S,
they are somewhat impressed. It is highly modified with a top speed around 130 MPH. When I ask them how well THEIR
bike would launch if put in to whatever gear will pull 130 mph, they are then really impressed. Given all of that, as fast
as it is, my Zero S is one of the slowest motorcycles I have owned as an adult.
She seems to be closer to a fan boy than troll. That being said, her review appears to be closer than you might expect
if you read a similar review in a motorcycle magazine by someone else who has ridden many bikes. People have a limited
understanding of electric vehicles, usually placing all of them in the same class.
I am just happy to see someone giving a positive ( probably TOO positive ) rather than someone trashing it because
it doesn't use gasoline.

That's the thing though, that's not how you ride a gas bike. Quantitatively comparing the torque of an electric bike and a gas bike is very difficult, even if you take the time to do the calculations to figure out the actual torque at the wheel (because motor torque is basically meaningless on its own). An electric bike has fairly constant and always available torque where as the gas bike has extremely variable torque based on engine rpm and the gear it's in. As a hypothetical example the electric bike could end up having more torque than the gas bike peaks at in 3rd gear but much less in first gear, but only if the gas bike is launched at a high rpm. There are just too many variables with gas bikes. All that can really be said is to describe the differences, that an electric bike is constant and instant.

On the other hand if you wanted to compare one electric bike to another (what she probably should have done) then doing so with torque can be good, and a fairly easy thing to do if you can find the gearing specs.

All that available torque is what makes riding an electric so fun, though.

Assuming it has the battery power to deliver it.

Yep. Too many people believe "more is better" but when it comes to gears, it should be the opposite.  Many gears should only mean the bike has a very narrow range of torque.


My Harley has six gears. Three gears is what I  would  I would prefer it to have. That's all it needs. And the very old Harleys only had three gears. But "more is better" for sales.


IMO, the less gears the better. That's why I like electrics, for that torque at any RPM and no gears necessary.


I can see having many gears on small bikes that have little torque, such as my Kaw 650 and my Suzuki DR200SE.


My 1971 BMW has four gears. And that is the perfect match for that bike, as it has a lot of wide low RPM torque for a 750.
