Yes, this rider is also hoping for some trickle down towards a touring oriented model. No desire for neck snapping acceleration or short manhood compensation here. Grow a fairing to extend range, chill out the impressive/ freakish HP and torque, and keep the electronics, and viola, Zero will tap into another vein of gold.

That's why it has different power modes to choose from including custom so you can tune it exactly to your liking. But I do agree they need a fairing version with a decent windscreen.

"Grow a fairing,"  now that's funny right there !!!!  AND you are correct....

For me, it sounds like the SR/F would have too much power.

That was kind of my thought when riding it as well.  It's hellafun, but I kept asking myself, where would I use this much torque?

Of course, you can dial it back, but why buy it in the first place is you're not planning on using it.   If I lived near a track, it would be a blast, but I don't.  On the street, that was a ton of power that would only serve to get me in trouble.

I'm sure if the SR/F I rode had the rider assist tech enabled, it would have felt more subtle.  Not bringing up the front tire or sliding around corners, but still, its a lot of torque.  Wish I could trade some of that 140 ft lbs. of torque for more highway range.

To me the FX and DS have plenty of usable torque.  I'm not sure I'd even need a DSR for my uses.

I guess it all comes back to range for me.  I've got a few 800-1000 mile trips coming up in the next few weeks.  I'd love to do it on an electric bike, but it just doesn't seem feasible at this point.

There is no way I'll ride it to anywhere near its potential, but torque is not why I'm buying it. I want it for the updated looks, better equipment, improved ergonomics, nicer LCD screen, better headlights, improved charging, nicer colors, etc.

I agree, it's just a far more "finished" bike than we've seen from Zero yet. I rarely if ever get looks on my 2014 SR, but I think this new bike will draw peoples' attention. I'd love to upgrade, but first I need to buy a new house and wait for the finances to settle. Soon, hopefully.

Of course, that torque.......might be pretty difficult to not squeeze the throttle a bit once in a while. Especially when some blonde in a 'Vette thinks she's all that.

I wouldn't be able to stay out of it.

One thing that I can't recall being mentioned yet is the width of the drive belt on the SR/F.  I wonder if it is still the same width as used on the 2018 Zero models? If it is, that would indicate that the belt has some reserve capacity on the earlier models.  :)

One thing that I do recall hearing or reading about recently is that the belt on the SR/F uses a higher tension than on previous models in order to insure that it does not skip a tooth (apparently) when the motor is being maxed out.  I found that statement surprising, consider that the belt tension on my 2018 S is specified as 25 to 76.5 kg. The higher number already seems pretty tight to me.  ??? (My belt was adjusted to 75 kg at the factory and I feel like you could play a tune on the belt.)   ;)

He was smart enough to find a back road, I was running 115 down that freeway at the beginning of the video.

[...] My 2016 DSR reverse mode modification is still very helpful performing hill-side maneuvers; I live on a very steep hill with poor pavement.

Is there a how-to guide available for the mod? I have at least a handful of DS and DSR colleagues who would love to have a reverse mode. In the unofficial manual the mod is mentioned, but not in detail (which I would need to have).

Regards John
