vibrations at certain speed on sr/f
« on: March 09, 2021, 01:34:02 AM »

Hello everyone....I am a new member here, my name is Yaron and I got my new sr/f 2 months ago. you will have to forgive me for my bad english, im from Israel  ;)
I have this issue and i'm not sure if it was raised here on this model so i would like to hear your opinions about it.
My sr/f have a slight vibration from 90 kmh up to 110 kmh. it started after i show my dealer (big mistake  :() that the belt is sitting alligned witn the inner side of the sprocket when it should be closer to the outer end. so he tried to realligned the belt and from that point the vibration started. the vibration is also there when i close the throtle slowing down from 130 kmh down to about 80 kmh.
i got back 3 times to him to try and fix this and he couldnt manage to do it.
now im waiting for the technical dep of the importer of zero to solve the problem.
is there a manual or instructions that show exactly how to allign the belt step by step ? or maybe the problem isnt with the belt ?
I will appreciate every advise anyone can give, cheers  8)

Here are some instructions

Zero SRF and SRS belt replacement is that easy | Zero SRF long term review

In words ;

Loosen wheel axle but with 27mm spanner or socket. Then use a hex bit on the rear axle adjuster in small increments to adjust alignment. There are small marks visible on top of the adjuster block slots on the side of the arm. When fastening wheel axle again make sure the other side slots in so it doesn't skip when fastening.

You can try to center the belt on the rear sprocket rotate the wheel forward by hand before fully tightening to make sure the belt doesn't travel.

Might be something else. I would check brakes if they move freely. Rotate wheel and check in that isn't warped. Same for discs and sprocket. Somehow listen for the motor bearings of they don't sound strange. Or without power on check if you can feel play on the front sprocket. Check front wheel bearings bt moving it sideways in the fork. And so on. Every moving part you should check.

Thank you Hans for the detailed reply. i watched your video and noticed that the axle adjuster that holds the adjuster screw on the other side of the sprocket  doesnt sit properly all the way in, the upper part is sticking out a bit, maybe this is the reason ? seems like a little thing, but who knows....
the bike has only 1400 km so I dont want to try and adjust the belt myself, first, i dont have the right tools and mainly because the bike is under warrenty, so they should take care of this.
Thanks again  :)

No problem, hope they can fix it for you. It's really a nice bike to ride (if all is working).

One easy thing to check is the axial centering of your rear belt sprocket, or whatever its called. Use the phone app for Gates belt, and test the detected Hz at various rotations of the wheel. Probably you will find two points in the wheels rotation: one where the tension is highest and one where it is lowest. Make a note of where the valve stem is for each position and use that to interpolate your results when checking the belt tension periodically. On my particular SR/S, there is an 7-8 Hz difference between the two points.

If you feel a vibration, one possibility is the pulley is off center enough that you cant set the tension properly; one point will be too high or too low depending on the tension you choose.

Since you should make this observation anyway to help you keep the bike maintained, it would be a good idea to check it now to make sure its not the cause of your vibration.

I'm not the best at explaining... if that didn't make sense let me know.

Thanks for your insight, Ididnt quite understand the procedere but the bike will be checked next week by an "expert" from the importer tech dep. I will tell him what you just described, hopefully it will help him solve the issue.
