I think there's a setting in the menus somewhere that can fix it to one or the other - best check that first.

I have also noticed some moisture forming underneath it, in both the right and left sides. First time in a year and, in my case, after 19'000 km. It seemed to go almost totally away after a couple of hours riding. I could associate it with driving in below 10° temperatures, but I cannot tell for sure.

Same here, my dealer told me you can take a picture of it when it happens and they can open a case. That way, if there is a fix you'll be notified for a replacement.

Just gotten the information from my dealer that a new display unit will be available in a few months.
So, I will probably delay the replacement of the unit with the moisture issues until the new unit is available instead of getting the very same unit and have problems with it as well in a few months.
