I set it to Level 2 so it was closer to the engine braking feel he was used to on his Triumph. I probably should have turned it up though because the brakes didn't seem like they were strong enough on the downhill.
It would be interesting to know how the Moto-E bikes are setup for racing - I suspect much more aggressive regen setting on the basis they "steer w/ the throttle" in order to deal with the dynamics of huffing a heavy battery into and out of corners...
The traction controller (Rinehart PM150 series) is certainly state-of-the-art in terms of torque application and one of the compelling reasons why I switched from DIY to commercial.
If your racer friend were given time to acclimate to electric propulsion and corrected the regen settings needed, I would bet the handling impression would change to "Gorilla w/ ballerina slippers" as I have found w/ my initial test ride - not perfect but impressive.
