I've been following the news about electric motorcycles for a while.

Electric motorcycle advantages
The travel cost is very cheap. The motorcycle is 20–40 kilo per liter (estimated). Electricity will be around 7-12 baht per 80 kilos.
Acceleration is much better. How to get out?
Very quiet Almost no sound
Parts are low Causing almost no need to repair / replace parts No oil to fill
Together with traveling to Shanghai and Beijing And discovered that

Almost every motorcycle is electric! There are many brands. Running all over the city
In addition, China has a very good city planning. There are bike lanes and motorcycles, all roads and footpaths are large and relatively smooth. And the government tightened to use to reduce air pollution

It is a paradise for electric bikes and electric motorcycles.

But many Chinese electric motorcycles have the same disadvantages:

It's not fast !!
Most Max speed will not exceed 50 km / h. China has strict speed limit laws. And a good city plan Causing the car to not stick No need to drive fast.

Then I had the opportunity to visit Taiwan. The land with the highest proportion of motorcycle users per capita

Because Taiwan has a lot of motorcycles. Make it not yet a whole electrical system !!

Electric motorcycles that Taiwan runs faster than China

Because Taiwan does not have large roads like China and with a motorbike as a competitor

Makes the max speed so much as ..

Gogoro brand, max speed = 100+ km / hr, range = 100km per charge, quick charge 3.5 hr, price 50,000 baht (depending on model)

Come back to Thailand ...

Although we still rarely see electric bikes running in Thailand But actually it is sold ..

The first brand of honda pcx hybrid / pcx ev not yet sold ...

Later, vespa elettrica still not sold ....

Later, niu electric scooter is sold !!

Drive on Thailand road
N1S model can be registered max speed = 65 km / hr, range = 80km per charge, charge 6 hr, price 98,000 baht (expensive import tax), battery charge change 35,000 (5-10 years change), battery charge Outside chart

Rich toy
This model looks the best, which is really sold in Thailand. Niu has many models. But not yet fully imported into Thailand The overall picture of the brand is very good. Because it has been sold all over the world

Mostly the price will be 20,000–50,000 Some models will cost as much as normal motorcycles.

But the max speed is not too much, 30–55 km / h, some models are not registered (can not ride out Must ride in the village in the alley)

It is considered okay for riding nearby. But may not be okay for use as a main trip

European / American camps
There are many models. But most are still prototype and expensive (Another chance to enter Thailand)

conclude
Electric motorcycles are now still a toy. Can not really use We still have to wait for Steve Jobs to launch the product. Let's wait.

Speaking of Thailand: My first two electric motorcycles were manufactured by Electric Motosport in Oakland, California. They were built around a Tiger chassis, which the company imported from Thailand and then installed Chinese HiPower batteries, U.S.-made electric motors and other electrical components to turn the chassis into a running electric motorcycle, which had about the same performance as the first 2010 Zeros. Tiger delivered the chassis with preformed sheet metal boxes that the batteries were dropped into. The chassis looked to me like they were the same ones used by Tiger's 250cc model.  It seemed like a good idea at the time, unfortunately there is a difference between building an electric motorcycle and actually marketing, selling and servicing them.   ;)

If you are looking for an electric motorbike in Thailand, there is this bike called Zapp i300 that is manufactured there. It's a pretty take on a scooter, but not sure if they are for sale yet.
