Just saw the speed test video on their channel, the numbers they claim are achieved on rollers which explains the issue. Gear a Zero high enough and you could get the rear wheel spinning at 200mph on rollers, doesn't mean it has the power to overcome air resistance and get it to that speed on the road.

Brandon I'll be watching for your review of the Boom bike.

I guess I need to work on getting my points out of my head and onto the screen better.

I was trying to say and give an example of the low quality bikes coming out of China now.  I was saying the blue bike from my posted video was crap and that is my knee jerk opinion of the product line.  Making something that is trying to copy a sport bike aka a very fast bike when it tops out at 47MPH (blue bike) with 35 miles of range just seems cheesy at best and deceptive at worst if someone didn't know what the bike's spec numbers translated to on the road.
They could at least make it look more supermoto or scooter and go for a teenage toy learner customer.

If the Boom can get closer to a 2012 Zero's specs for a few grand then hey if that works for somebody go for it.

I'm still in the go faster go further be stronger cheering section.

At 250 lb net weight, I can see why they claim 75+ miles of range!

Edit: A little off-topic but I would love to have an electric mini bike weighing in at less than 75 lbs with 3kW of power. My buddy recently bought a Burromax TT750R, and I enjoyed riding it but I want more power!

It's a bit expensive but the Kuberg X Force Pro 50 fits the bill, and if you have even more money and want something more adult sized there's the Freerider (also comes in a road legal version).

Thanks, I'll look into them. I think the 8kW Force Pro 50 is a little overkill so I'll probably go for a much cheaper 3kW version, perhaps the Kuberg Cross Hero. I hope they sell pink plastics for these 'cause my daughters will be riding it!

I didn't realise the Cross Hero was 3kW, I figured it was 1.4kW like the similar Oset models due to the much lower price and relatively low rated top speed. For that price it seems like a cracking deal.

I have the new Kuberg Ranger on order, 14kW ~80 pounds! 50 mph max. ~ 60-90 min run time. Have a 1/4 mi. single track in my back yard. 2 creek crossing (usually dry) and 200' of elevation change. Expected end of August, got in on an early load of 10 bikes.

I'll be reporting back!

Isn't 50 mph max for 14 kW kind of low, perhaps it's due to gearing? Even the 17 mph limit of the 3kW cross seems low to me.

Gearing is definitely a factor, along with the speed of the motor (more power doesn't necessarily mean faster). My 1.1kW bike will do 17mph too but only on flat ground and won't climb anywhere near as well as a Kuberg Cross. Surrons can do 45mph with just 6kW and the Kuberg Freerider will only do 35mph with either 8 or 12kW (they don't say which version the top speed is for, or if it's even different). While riding along at 30mph on flat ground my DS was only reading about 1.4kW in the phone app.

Judging based purely off what an ~11kW 125cc can do (about 75mph) I'd say that if the Ranger was geared right it could top 85mph, it would just take a long time to get there.

Awesome, so I'll still smoke my buddy on his 750W burromax off the line.

It is definitely gearing. They are geared for impressive climbing and modest top speeds being a dirt bike this is a nice goal. Without a tranny low single gearing is required. I was told by the dealer they are as follows - 8kW: 35mph, 12kW: 40, 14kW: 50.

I agree with different gearing 85 would certainly be achievable however I fear instability would scare the crap out of you!

I put in an order for a Cross Hero, and then Kuberg North America emailed me saying it'll be at least a month until it arrives so I canceled it. Bummer. I'll check in with them later.

Just wanted to thank everyone for suggestions and feedback. I did add a signature to my profile now, so I really apppreciate that suggestion, and those of you that have joined our Patreon team already.

The boom video is in the works. Several members of the forum here banded together and donated a new editing rig for me that is 300% more powerful than the laptop I was editing on before. I feel like a caveman that has discovered fire. Then... OMG a good buddy donated a creative cloud subscription to mer so I could have real editing software... HO LEE SHI! What a difference this software makes. I am actually considering restarting the process since I already know how I want to edit the footage and the way the review flows.

Anyhow, just wanted to let you know its on the way!
