Top speed too high? (2018 FXS)
« on: May 10, 2019, 04:27:34 AM »

I'm not complaining, but does anyone have an unmodified bike that goes higher than the top speed in the specs?  I don't mean downhill with a tailwind, I mean GPS confirmed speed, slightly uphill, can feel the bike still accelerating above the "top speed."

The motor RPMs are limited by the controller to something like 6000RPM. Sevcon likely can be programmed to make it spin faster, but that increases stress (vibration, heat) on the motor and can lead to motor's complete failure. That's why instead of increasing RPMs Zero supplies pulleys with different ratios.

How fast do you think your bike is going? Why post this without that info and some back story?

89MPH is what my 2014 DS is supposed to do. I've never tried it above speed limit, so I don't know if that's true :D

They all go 89 MPH (quickly decreases to 88) but it's not really 89 MPH. The speedo reads a little high.

I saw 90 on the FX speedo today, but the GPS read 88.1 mph.

It quickly overheated at that speed though.

Just read this, wow.

I hit 102 mph on the DSR demo ride last week.  I want to know if they'll do what they say.

I have been Drag Racing my SR this year. It hits between 101 and 102 at the end of the 1/4  mile.
It hits 88~89 in the 1/8th then just coasts the rest of the way.  Picked up a 2014 recently that is getting
some TLC from Hollywood Electrics, so hopefully it will be quite a bit faster than my 2016 SR.
Racing here in Vegas is done until September. If I decide to go out for a test and tune, I will post results.
Hopefully taking it to ReFuel next month

I hit 130 mph, 209 kph on the 2014 FX I have, last week. This was promptly after wheelieing at 60 mph. Over 50 mph its easier to wide open wheelie for me because if I wide open throttle below 50 mph, the bike wants to flip over in place.

My bike is slightly modified though, so you may have a slightly different experience.

I can hit 107 on my dsr in custom mode. The spec says 102, but for some reason, i can set top speed to 110 in custom mode.

Haha!  I haven't had the guts or enough open road to go over 110 on the DS yet :)

Yes, but if you reload the app after the change, you'll notice that the max that is stored is 107 ;)
