Title: How many miles to expect from 2013 original tires?
Post by: jpaulus on May 18, 2015, 11:21:58 AM
So how many miles should I expect from the original 2013 S tires doing mostly highway commuting?  Thanks.

Depending upon how far you want to push the tread, you should get between 8K and 10K miles out of the rear tire. (What happens is the rear tire will square off and that will result in goofy handling when cornering.) I don't know how many miles you can get out of the front tire as I have never worn one out.   ???

I changed the rear tire on my 2013 S at 7600 miles. I now have over 10,000 miles on the bike and the front tire still looks good and should go until I need to change the rear tire again.

Just crossed 7,000 on my 2013 S and the rear is embarrassingly squared off. "Wear Bars" are assuredly very nearly, almost... yeah pretty much due for replacement.

I don't have an S, but I bought a 2013 XU at 6,920 miles, and the rear was squared off, wear bars almost completely gone in the center. The front had maybe 50% tread left, but looked dry and cracking from sun exposure.

What is a good rear tire for a 2013 used mainly for highway commuting?  And is there anything special about changing a Zero tire that would need an authorized dealer (since I'm not up to it)?
