Got my 5th EV motorcycle about a month ago. The dealership in Sacramento (A&S) had a 2023 ‘factory demo’ with less than 400 miles on the odometer - marked down about $5K. Couldn’t resist.
I’ll be using it for all of my local running around. I’m seeing real-world range at about 65-70 miles (claimed range is 80 miles).
The 6 kW onboard J1772 charging works well - with the 8 kWh battery pack you can charge back up (from 20%) in less than an hour.

The heated seat and heated grips have been very nice during this winter :-)

I've always thought the CE-04 was pretty cool (the CE-02 isn't bad either), it's just hard to justify that pricing. But 5 grand off isn't bad. How does it feel weight wise? It's super heavy but it seems like the weight's down low.

I’m curious about the weight and weight balance, too. Does it feel like you can dance through city traffic on it, or is it more locked into place like a heavier bike? I’m contemplating a lighter second bike or scooter, something that weighs (or handles like it weighs) in the low 400 lbs or less. I’ve been enjoying chucking my wife’s 230 lbs, 150cc scooter through city traffic, but now she says that it was supposed to be a gift for her and I’m the one who always uses it. :)

Always really wanted a CE-04 but range not quite enough for me. If it had a 15kWh battery I'd buy one in a snap.

Compared to a full size motorcycle it feels super nimble and changes direction really well. The massive lock means that even though it’s a really long wheel base its turning radius is excellent. For a scooter it feels heavy once it’s stopped(especially on a cross slope) because the stand over is quite wide with the running boards, but low speed handling is superb, easy to balance and make tight turns. Honestly, at city speeds there’s little that can touch it if you are confident at assessing how wide a gap is and it’s more fun than most of our bikes!

Yes - since the battery pack is low it does not feel heavy at all. It also has Reverse, so easy to maneuver in any direction. It’s quite nimble - a breeze in city traffic and on the freeway (for short commutes).
The speedometer registers 79 MPH as the top speed, but actual (GPS) is 77 MPH - not blazing fast, but adequate.

I, too, wish it had a bigger battery pack. I would gladly give up the storage space for double the range. I don’t have a long commute, so it fits my needs. And I have my Energica for the long rides :)

aye but doubling the range is probably going to put another 100 lbs or so weight on the bike. The handling is going to be very different then, and you may not like it much anymore.

I think the battery tech in the 04 was already old when it was put into production - they should be able to achieve 15kWh now with the same weight using the latest chemistries and processes.
I wouldn't want to give up the storage space - that's the whole point of a scooter!

Awesome, just what I was looking for! A good “in-between” bike for my wife to grow into and for me to chuck around city streets with a little more oomph than the 150.

That’s exactly why we got it! She needed to able to mix it up on the highway (110km/h roads) but it’s not as daunting as a full power tippy toppy motorcycle.
Highway range at a steady 100-115km/h is 90-95km. Range at lower speeds is limited by the endurance of your ars (mine calls time out at an hour and a half). The bench seat….exists.

I flogged one last summer for about 30 minutes trying to keep up with the dealership owner. It was a blast! They have a new 2023 for $9799 with the premium package and I have been tempted. We'll see

Depreciation on most electrics is savage, but that doesn't bother us as we tend to hold onto things until they die.
Locally here they were $24k new on the road, and are selling two years old at ..... $18k. All three of the private sales, lol.

Heated handgrips is a bit overrated IMO. I have them and yah they feel nice on the BOTTOM of your hands, but the wind blows over the top so only half your hand is comfy. What I do is turn em all the way up to hot hot HOT and let the heat hopefully heat up the entire glove and hopefully radiate thru a bit but if you got ANY moisture in your glove, sweat... it's misery when it gets below freezing.
heated seats now, I do NOT have but sounds like they would be very nice, all that heat goes straight up into your chilly ass. But again, can it really make it thru a good set of leathers if you got them on? If you are wearing regular pants, the rest of you is freezing anyways so the hot a hole might be pretty much .. negligible.

That is why you should pair heated grips with hand guards. Cut the windchill.

I use these on all 3 bikes. Hand guards are required. Can move them to a different bike in a minute. They stop the water and cold before it hits your gloves.
