Hi,
I'm having some issues with my replacement battery on a premium 2019 SRF with charge tank:
It seems to charge very slowly at fast chargers, starts 11kW but rapidly falls to 4kW
I think takes longer overall than the old battery did, despite it supposedly being unlocked (?).
Does anyone know if the logs will show up the charging rate and how it changes over a charge?

DennisNL over on Facebook posted some useful graphs, and basically you're right, the new battery is much slower to charge. May be fixed in firmware later on. Or not.

What % SOC are you starting the charge at? The lower the better--even when it gets to the same 80% SOC the charge rate will be higher when you start the charge at a lower SOC%. The BMS does weird stuff when you start the charge at a high SOC. Be at least below 40% when you start the charge.

While this seems to be the case now, it definitely wasn't the case with the previous battery and firmware. Mine would hit 11kW charging right up till about 80% SOC, no matter the starting point.

Just got this back from Davant:
I have reviewed the logs attached and it all seems normal with no signs of faults.
Reasons for battery charging difference-
The BCB is made up with different cells with different chemistry than the original HM battery, the BCB is also a larger battery with a difference from 14.4kw to a 15.6kw output which obviously give more cell output and greater power but will increase the charge time slightly.
The BCB charges at a different rate and in a different way to the HM battery and a drop in Kw is normal, the temp of the battery also has a great affect on the charger output and the closer the battery gets to full the charge rate will drop.
The ideal battery temp to get the full optimal charge is 30-45% but obviously this is not easily done here in the UK (specially at the moment) so maybe worth advising to charge directly after a long ride if this is what the customer is after. The BCB will charge from 0 to 95% in 1.15 hours in an ideal temp range.
Please advise the customer that this is normal operation of the charging cycle and that Zero are currently working on new software to improve the charge rate.

The original battery in my 2020 SR/S uses lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) chemistry. What chemistry is used in the new batteries?
Edit: In an attempt to answer my own question, I asked my dealer to contact Zero for an update on the new batteries. According to my dealer, Zero told them the new batteries still use the NMC chemistry. If that is the case, any charging differences must be based on something else. Perhaps it's the structure of the new batteries themselves.

At what temperatures did you charged? I also have a replacement battery, which will not charge with more then 4kW (after it started with the normal 6kW) when it is somewhere around 0 degrees celcius. When the pack is at operational temperature, it charges with 6kW.

How is 95% charge possible in 1.15 hours (at 6kW)?
6kW for 1:15 hours gives 7.5kWh.
That would mean 100% corresponds to just under 8kWh - for a nominal 14.4kWh Battery?
On my 2023 SR/F when charging at 6.6kW it takes around 1:20 minutes for 1% of charge.
So I would guess 2 hours for charging from 0 to 95%.
For the 14.4 kWh Battery and 6kW charging I would expect similar times.

Charged mine on a 22kW charger today, and got a risible 7.4kW out of it :( This is bollocks, the fast charger cost me the best part of 3 grand and now seems to basically do nothing.
I am wondering ... if it is even actually still connected? (I'm guessing it was the Davant guys did yours too @peterwarm ?)

Indeed! The range is quite significantly improved with the new pack, but the charging sucks from what i have heard of from the FB group. I need to do a proper check with my 9kW charging setup to see if I even get 9kW or not.
They are being too conservative witht the new pack maybe?

It reeks of a firmware bug to me ... they absolutely would have anticipated a storm of angry support requests from people with charge tanks that weren't getting the advertised charging rate, ever, so on balance, it seems like a mistake at this point. I hope.
