Title: Bluetooth GPS
Post by: wadejesu on January 08, 2023, 07:55:12 PM
The owners manual talkes about connecting via bluetooth yet my 23 Ribelle has no BT module that I can see. Icon on the display but I guess it's just for looks. There is also a GPS icon that does nothing,
WTF?

I may get some specifics wrong but yeah, it’s probably a hold over from older firmware on the newer bikes.

The Bluetooth connectivity and GPS were for the Energica app. I still have the app on my iPhone and my Ribelle (1st version) still has the Bluetooth module. Basically, you connect the app to the bike via Bluetooth and the app uses the phone’s GPS/location services to figure out where the closest chargers are. I think you can filter on AC vs DC but since I haven’t used it in so long that I don’t remember for sure. When you see the GPS icon lit up, that meant that another display option is available which would show you the direction of the 5 or so closest chargers.

It was pretty useless since it would show the direction (N,S,E,W) and distance but no actual turn by turn directions.

Other than the mention in the manual and the icons on the display, you’re not missing anything. The bike had to be on and your phone in range for the app to connect to the bike. Not like most electric cars (and Zero I believe) that have a cell radio which enables communication with the vehicle even when it’s “off”.
