They first told me sometime in September. Now, when I check on-line (because nobody says anything after they got my 3K$ to order on June 1), it says "sometime in the fall." Fall ends officially on Dec 20.
It's now December.
But what is not clear is if that means when they are shipped to the USA or delivered to customers.

I was told the launch edition bikes have shipped from the factory and are expected to be in California before Christmas. However I was also told they would be here by September. I am not expecting delivery this year but it could happen.
-
I changed my order to a black one, so I probably won't see mine until Feb/March I was told (by the dealer). Assumed production start (after Launch Edition) is in December. So all the Launch Editions were probably built/shipped and they are gonna start normal production shortly.
Maybe one of you will get my Launch Edition.

I am surprised you can now change your order on the Launch Edition as then they only had the one color.
I am not crazy about any of the three colors available, but I want to ride it, not look at it.

For what will probably amount to about $30k OTD... it better ride AND look good lol.

That's about what I expect, 3K$ has already been paid. I still have >30K$ set aside for the purchase (paying cash).
Of the three colors, I think I like the Bormio Ice best anyway.

I've already paid "in full", not withstanding registration and insurance costs of course. Received a message the other day saying the Experia now has full "road approval" in Australia, how they did that without a physical unit to look at is a mystery...so just a matter of receiving, setting up and riding it home l guess. They also mentioned there were actually 7 launch edition Experias coming to Aus, 5 customer units and 2 demos.....not the 3 l was originally lead to believe.
If l had the choice, it would be the "black" edition as my preference.

I've already paid "in full",
Was that required there in Australia to order? Here they want 3K$ to order. Perhaps they want 10% here in the USA covered to order.

I find it interesting that nobody voted that I will take delivery before winter comes. But several voted that I would not.
Not that I really care that much until spring.
It's snowing here right now and I am stuck home with COVID, so no real big hurry. I won't be riding anything for a while.

It was a 20% deposit required to cover the order, but l decided to pay the full amount, mainly because l didn't want to have money sitting around with the temptation to spend it on other things. ::)

I’m located in Germany, deliveries have always be made by receiving a direct truckload of bikes from Modena.
My dealer already ordered five Launch-Ed-Experias with the Energica without having customers PO’s for them. He was doing that after receiving one of the press test bikes for a week and a half and taking it out for a trip himself. He was reaching out for his most interested customers to do a test ride, I was lucky to get it for two hours (https://www-elektroroller--forum-de.translate.goog/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=32064&_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=de&_x_tr_pto=wapp) (I‘m not the one in the first pic as I was taking that shot plus it is written in German and auto-translated via Google Translater, so not the best of language but you‘ll get it).
I placed my order with my dealer directly after that on Oct 6th, I was number three on his list.
Until now, there is no word from Energica regarding shipment. I trust my dealer is pushing the German sales rep and he is forwarding any news out to me asap.

What did you mean, check on line? Is there a website to check status?

No, just many websites that sat they are coming in the fall. Such as here. (https://www.insidehook.com/daily_brief/vehicles/energica-experia-electric-motorcycle#:~:text=Energica%20Unveils%20an%20Electric%20Motorcycle%20Without%20the%20Range,to%20hit%20dealerships%20in%20the%20U.S.%20this%20fall.)

The wait might be over, Got email from Energica yesterday requesting full payment because they are getting ready to ship my Ribelle RS. Merry Christmas.

Just now being shipped out from Italy? I assumed they were already on their way over to the USA if not in the states already.
Also, the Experia could be different, and I have not yet heard anything.

Oh, that's more like it! Where are you located?
I take it they didn't get any Experias in yet in SF.
Someday, my Experia will be picked up in the shop in Roseville. Or should I say someyear?

Also no updates on Experia deliveries from my dealer in Germany.
According to him, a “surprisingly high” amount of customers cancelled their Ribelle/SS9/Ego orders and switched to Experia, so in October he coud get any of the older models in only 3 weeks from order (well, not BTO but pre-config’s).
Another differentiator is that there are more different parts used on the Experia than on the other three, until all are qualified and delivered in right quantities is a challenge. Pure production capacity seems sufficient as there are two lines for Experia in a new building part and two existing lines shared between Ribelle/SS9/Ego in an old building part. Setting up a production line is also not done over night and might also contribute to delays. Plus, such a new line ramp-up is slow and might take months to run at designed cycle times. But at least in this report (https://australianelectricmotorco.com/energica-experia-launch-and-factory-tour/) it sounds like they are back on track with “most current orders looking to be fulfilled by the end of 2022”. I guess you need to add specific durations for shipping/customs/intercontinental transport etc...
Assuming the linked report is accurate and there’s no other delays popping up, I’d expect the bikes at dealers within EC in Feb and in US like April (glassball accuracy applied ;D). 2023, Don, not 2024 ;).

So much for having it in September of 2022. Or even the "fall of 2022". So what will go wrong in 2023?
It's not too surprising that many canceled their Ribelle/SS9/ but I would think the Ego is a MUCH different type of bike and few Ego people would have interest in a touring bike. From sport to a touring bike?
I wonder how many Experias they already built and where those are. Spread around Europe?

I don’t think so. I guess there are a few dozens if not +/-100 bikes standing in Modena, pre-assembled to a certain %-age while either the operators are waiting on production line refinements or missing parts. My guess is not a single end-customer bike has left Modena yet. But the “first wave” seems immanent…

I ride that street all the time. The Post Office is to the left, the bowling alley to the right and I live 2 miles east as the crow flies. That is an odd photo. I am really surprised to see the beach so empty and Highway 1 with so little traffic on it. Nice weather like that usually brings out the traffic on the highway and the crowds on the beach. ??? That has got to be a press bike, perhaps staged for a photo shoot. After all the Energica distributor is located only about 10 miles to the east.

I am glad that you can verify that was Pacifica and not someplace that looks the same in Europe!
Since the Energica Service Manager lives in Pacifica, I wonder if he rode the bike there and took the picture.

That makes sense. I bet their shop is becoming familiar with the new bike before they start hitting the U.S. showrooms.

It's possible that the same Experia showed up along with some other Energicas at Buttonwillow Raceway in Central California at the end of November.

That photo of the Experia inspired me to ride my Zero to the same location this 42 degree F. morning and take the attached photo a couple of hours before the clouds rolled in, getting ready for tomorrow's forecast storm. Expect a nasty snowstorm tomorrow where you live, Don.

That's neat how you were able to take your Zero to the exact same place.
We expect a little snow over the next couple of days here. I am at 5K elevation right here on the top of a hill, so I will get hit a little harder than most of Reno. But where it will really be heavy snow will be at Donner Summit. They can get close to a foot of snow there over the next couple of days and a total os above 3 feet of snow in a few days.
Is the CA drought over with?
BTW, I would be in southern AZ right now, but I caught COVID just before leaving. I am all over it now. I have had much worse colds and flu than this COVID bug.

I might be wrong, but I believe that drought is over, and another one started about a month later. (That article was from 2019!)

Last week I saw a chart on the local TV news that showed the entire Central Valley designated as an area of "Exceptional Drought", while most of the rest of the State was in an "Extreme Drought". After this weekend's rain, hopefully things will be a little better. Tonight's weather news was that the Serra Nevada mountains were receiving several feet of snow today, with more to come, and unlike last year the temperature is very cold meaning that the snow will stick around and not quickly runoff as it did last year.

It has been raining here all day.
BTW, I find it interesting that nobody (not even a single vote) believes Energica's delviery dates. I wonder why . . . .

Well the whole supply chain shortage thing is putting all industries to a new level of challenge. In Tier-1 suppliers for Automotive, lots of management meetings is about the best moment to disclose a new shortage to the OEM. Sometimes this customer feedback is being done too late. I bet the same is valid for all Tier-n‘s. No wonder that even major OEMs struggle to control the production or get the full picture. In 2020 (Covid) and 2021 (chip-shortage), many suppliers have compensated shortages by allowing premium freights and now have issues reclaiming costs with the OEMs. This year 2022, rising energy cost and raw mat prices again add to the complexity. Very little is fixed, many contracts are in re-negotiation with delays depending on the outcome.
I haven’t seen specific delivery week commitments communicated by any OEM since the last two years. Some OEMs master communication better, others worse, many are still not prepared and fall silent. I think that a statement like „dear customer, we simply don‘t know“ (Don you mentioned s.th. similar some time ago) would be a professional way of dealing with it. But I can‘t really blame anyone who doesn‘t…

I kinda assumed they already had most of them built when they let us order back in June.
If not, it's kinda too close to being just vaporware. Should we even be able to order stuff that doesn't even yet exist?

I read in my newspaper the other day that the cost of shipping containers had dropped from a high of $40K USD each to now only $2K each. And the shipping ports on the west coast are all caught up and would like more business. I guess that means that the predicted economy downturn due to inflation and other factors is starting to take effect. Unfortunately, we still seem to be suffering the effects of supply shortages of certain critical components, like chips, apparently due to the lingering impacts of the Covid factory shutdowns and perhaps from the war in Ukraine. :(

High of $40.00 to a low of $2,000.00????
BTW, the snow is so deep here I cannot even get out of my driveway.

Oops. I left out the "K". It should have been $40,000 to rent a shipping container when they were in very short supply and were most expensive. I fixed my post. Sorry about that.

At least it's not snowing at A & S Motorcycles... I was there last week to test ride an Esse Esse 9.
-
I saw this online from a few days ago:
https://www.morebikes.co.uk/your-ride/electric-bikes/270051/energicas-big-plans/
From that article, Energica’s sales director Giacomo Leone said this about the Experia: “We launched the bike at Mugello at the end of May. In four months, we’ve had hundreds of orders without even having bikes out there. We will start production and delivery in a few weeks. We feel that this is going to be the biggest sales success for Energica in terms of volume, for the next few years.”
Hopefully that estimate includes shipments to the US.
-

What did you think of it? I love mine, it's my favorite bike to ride for most of my rides and it's a SS9-.
If the charge stations would work here in NV, the range of even the SS9- would be enough.
Because of broken charge stations, I cannot go as far in NV as I could last year. Places such as Hawthorne, NV and Fallon, NV CCS charge stations and others have been broken for around a year.

Thanks, but I am more curious than anything else. I won't be in a big hurry until springtime. Lots of snow here right now.
But the other bikes, such as your SS9, are not the same issue as the Experia. I think they have plenty of the other models.
I am sure that you will enjoy your new bike.

Just heared that Experia production is finally starting cw50, so this week... so far no end customer bike has been build or shipped, all existing bikes are pre-production. Those pre-prod bikes are mostly spread in Europe, one or more also in US (well we knew that bit already). I was not able to get any details on why we were seeing that delay.
Ribelle, Ego and SS9 orders are mostly down due to the new model - operators and parts are available, this is why recent orders of those are produced directly when an order is coming in. However, shipping seems to be a huge problem. Logistics companies seem to have unusual long durations until they even pick up - also they do LTFTL (less than full truck load). This affects mainly land transport in Europe - no word on if/how sea freight is affected.
Undisclosed source which I trust.

What is "cw50" and what is the difference between the pre-prod Experias and the "customer bikes" ?
-Don- Reno, NV

cw50 is calendar week 50. This week.
Generally, pre-production vehicles are used to fine trim the OEM’s assembly process, also some components may not have final maturity. I‘ve linked my test ride on the first page where I‘ve described the deficiencies I found in the pre-production bike I had.

Well it looks like the first two customers are taking delivery of their Experia motorcycles soon in San Francisco. They arrive in California today to pick them up. They plan on riding them home to Florida over the Christmas and New Years week a trip of about 3000 miles. Great way to show their touring chops. Info on Energica Motorcycle Owners Group on Facebook.

Sure is a difference in the news on the Experia. Do you mean South San Francisco (is NOT in San Francisco)?
If there is an Energica shop in SF, this is the first I heard of it. But they have the Energica service shop about a mile from where I used to live in SSF (but the Energica shop was then in Redwood City).
When mine is ready, I will pick it up at A&S in Roseville. (https://www.aspowersports.com/) That is around 18 miles (30 km) from my other house in Auburn, CA which I will head for tomorrow. A&S is around 111 miles (180 km) from South San Francisco.
Could my bike be on the way?

I think for the west coast, all Energicas go to the SSF shop first. From there to the dealers, but I guess they can also be picked up there in SSF and bypass the dealers.
They get them ready to go there in SSF. The dealers receive these bikes ready to ride, so there are no set-up fees involved.
Any idea how many Experias are in the SSF shop?
-Don- Reno, NV
-
I have no idea how many are there. They only mentioned picking up their two bikes. This couple flew to Italy back in the summer to test ride the bikes. They have two 2021 model Ribelle’s they are selling if anyone is interested.

I cancelled my Experia order. For now I have my 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure R, and that will do. I may revisit the bike in the near future.
With that said, I'm very unimpressed with Energica and this whole launch. Not once was I reached out to despite having an order in since day 1 of pre-orders. My dealer tried their best and I give them credit for trying to get information, but it was always sparse. Often times it felt like the info contradicted what others had heard here. So you could never really tell what was going on.
Now I hear that a couple is getting the first 2 Experia's in the U.S. so they can ride them back to Florida. That's great and all, but a lot of people have super early pre-orders and from all accounts haven't heard a damn thing.
I hope everyone here gets their orders soon. I'll keep a lookout on the forum to read about everyone's experiences.

Well, I can understand. I odered mine on the first minute possible on Wednesday June 1 and paid my 3K$ the next day, Thursday June 2. I was told I would have the bike in Septemeber, and just like you, I have not heard a word other than the several contradicting messages in this forum, where everybody says someting different.
I don't mind the wait as much as the lack of offical communications. I expected better info. from Energica. Dealer also has not heard a single word the last time I checked with them.

I liked the SS9. I desperately needed a windscreen, though, as I had to hold on tight when I hit the freeway. I liked the torque and the handling, but I'm 6'7" and the riding position was a little cramped. I test rode a Zero DSR/X about two days prior, and it just reinforced my preference for said windscreen. The Experia seemed like the next logical choice. I was hoping one of the dealers near me will get an Experia as a demo model so I can try it.
That sucks about the charging stations not working and not being repaired in a timely manner. I'm lucky to be in the bay area in California so there is no shortage of working charging stations.

The problem with CCS in CA is that there are way too many grouped together and then perhaps more than 100 miles to the next one.
Between Reno and my house in Auburn, CA there is a CCS charge station almost every exit. Rarely are any of them used. I normally use the free CCS at Donner Summit west bound rest stop and even it is rarely busy. I have never had to wait at any of them, including this free one, even on weekends.
But nothing in or near Susanville, Quency, Portola, Lake Topaz and countless other places all over the state of CA when once away from the busy populated freeways and very populated areas. Means where we can go is very limited on an electric motorcycle, even in CA.

It does seem as if the big push to install CCS stations is only along major interstate freeway routes. Both the CA's government $500 million charging station infrastructure project as well as the Federal one budgeted for billions of dollars, all talk about installing them along freeways, but there is little mention regarding installing them along roads that don't get a lot of traffic - such as the roads that we all like to ride along. It does appear as if locating charging stations are determined by the amount of adjacent traffic where they will likely get the most use - and generate the most amount of revenue for the private companies that will own, operate, and hopefully maintain, them.

I wonder how many people refuse to buy an EV for that reason, especially when it comes to electric motorcycles.
Perhaps that is one of the main reasons Teslas are so common. They have the best charging network combined with the range to get between them, with only rare exceptions.

Well it looks like the first two Experia motorcycles will be picked up today at Energica in California after preparing them for the 3000 mile ride to Florida. Let the adventure begin.

Good luck to the two new owners riding their Experias across the U.S. during the winter. The weather in the mid-western and southeastern U.S. this winter has been somewhat challenging lately and has not been all that favorable for motorcycle touring. I hope we hear more regarding their adventure and that they arrive home safely.

I have no idea their route plan, but I'd certainly be heading south to LA/San Diego and then heading east. Still cold no matter what right now.

Cold is NOT the main issue.

Nothing to worry about. The weather looks good for the next week across the south. Just colder than normal but above freezing. They will probably follow along I-10 and be close to the gulf coast once they reach Houston TX. Tornadoes move through fast and are only in a few locations. It’s the hurricanes that are more dangerous , cover a larger area and last a lot longer.

Yep. The warning has been removed already from the weather report. It came and left faster than expected.

First, Energica said we would have our Experia's in September. Then, on-line it says "sometime in the fall". Well, now fall is over. It's the first day of winter.
I noticed in the poll that nobody believed before winter starts.
Total lack of any communications from anybody after I made my 3K$ deposit in June, other than "in September" back then.
So can I now expect it in winter or fall? Looks like it won't be this year.

I called Energica and was told some more would be delivered in January and most other preorders in February. We will see. If you have a dealer I would call them to see what they say, at least once a month. They keep saying supply chain issues.

It does seem as if "supply chain issues" is the standard reply for every product delay, such as toilet paper, random food items, children's medicine, baby formula, motor vehicle fuel, and just about every other item you can think of that a lot of people suddenly want to buy. ::) But with such a complicated and unique vehicle as an electric motorcycle I am more inclined to believe that excuse. Still, it is getting a little tiring. I am ready for a new excuse. :'(
-
Mine left San Fran on the 13th, transport vehicle was within 30 miles of my residence on the 17th, now according to tracking it's been sitting in Atlanta since the 17th 0400. If I could get hold of someone in the transport co, I would go get it myself. I'm officially starting to get pissed.

If I could officially hear the excuses, I would be okay with that. I was expecting delivery last September.
I did visit the A&S dealer in Roseville last Friday. I often chat with Randy, the owner. He said he heard they will get my Experia in February. However, he also thought there was only one Experia in the USA. I told him about the seven in SSF, and that two were picked up by a couple from Florida and should be five left. I have no idea where those five are going, but didn't I hear somewhere that the dealers will get their demo Experias before the customers do?
I wonder what type of connections that couple from Florida had. BTW, I thought we would be able to track them. Did they ever get out of CA?

The couple are being tracked on Spotwalla and are in Tucson right now. They have also posted videos on YouTube under Two4Charge.

My recollection is that the first Energica sold by CalMoto was picked up by someone that lived in Texas. I guess it helps to have connections that are in other states instead of California. ??? The attached photo taken on August 20, 2016 might (or might not) be the bike.

This is the fifth and six bike this couple has bought from Energica. They also went to Italy to the factory for a tour and test ride. They are well connected for sure. I have no problem with them being one of the first if not the first to get their bikes. My understanding is the first shipment had seven bikes on it. One is being kept by Energica in California so that leaves four more bikes that may or may not have been delivered. I just wish there was better communication like everyone else because we are all excited to get our bikes.
It is almost Christmas and I am sure they may not be working a lot until the first of the new year. I hope come January they will begin to ship them to customers and we will all have ours by the end of February.

February isn't a bad time to get our bikes. Just before spring, the best riding time.
But do they mean it this time? September didn't happen. Fall didn't happen. Will February happen?

I arrived late to this party and didn't order the Experia until late November with Calmoto in Livermore. The dealer advised me that it would take about 10 weeks, so arrival would be sometime in the latter half of February 2023.

Well, I ordered the launch edition on June 1. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you get yours first. Perhaps they send them first to the dealers where they can take the most bikes at one time. I am the only Experia order at A&S Cycles in Roseville (https://www.aspowersports.com/--inventory?make=energica&pg=1), so they probably have to just take one bike there from their SSF shop.
I see you're in Vallejo. We will have to go on a ride together to somewhere when we both get our Experias. Vallejo is less than 100 miles from here.
To buy my 2020 SS9-, I had to go the Mtn. View Cal Moto shop in August 2019. Their shops keep on getting closer to me, which is good news. A&S is only 25 miles from here.

I doubt I'll get mine before the launch editions arrive. I asked for one of the "flame white" paint jobs. A few weeks ago, I saw a news article that said Energica was going to expand their dealer network to 28 dealers in the US. I wouldn't be surprised if one popped up in Reno.

That would be nice, but I would expect Las Vegas to be more likely than Reno. But OTOH, Reno is only a couple of hours away from A&S. Reno could be the next stop on the same day for Energica.
With 28 dealers, perhaps they can do both.

It looks like a few more Experia’s are about to be delivered to their new owners. At least two people on Facebook have gotten the call. I still think most preorder’s will be coming in February or March. I am still waiting.

Makes little difference to me right now. It's been mostly non-stop raining here in Auburn and no end in sight.
Even worse at my Reno home, deep snow.
How do those people get the call and from whom?
If I only get the call at my main phone number in Reno, I won't even know about it when I am here in Auburn. It's a landline, I never have my cell phone on except when I make a call. Perhaps four or five times per year at the most.

Not sure how it works in the US, here in Germany I placed my order with my local dealer. And it is him that I‘m in contact with. He will call me (I have only one home and my cell is on most of the time) - if not successful, he also got my mail address so I trust we will connect.
BTW, he confirmed to me he will drive down to Modena to fetch a two Experias with his van. He ordered more but two seem to be waiting for pick-up…
-
Picked up my Experia today. Originally I asked to cancel my order, but after getting a chance to sit on one - I changed my mind. I asked the dealer if I could get back in line (assumed at the end) but got lucky the dealer hadn't even done anything with my pre-order yet. So I was still in line, and I was one of the first in the country in that line.
For reference I placed my order in late May, basically the day they announced the bike. I called the dealer and asked to put a deposit. A few days later the online forum came out.
I didn't get a charging cable, so the dealer is working on that. So far the bike is amazing - but only have got to put about ~40miles on it and with more storms on the way it will be sitting more I'm sure.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Why did you want to cancel at first?
What was your total cost after your 3K$ was paid?

Originally I was going to sell my KTM and just have the Experia. Which I felt wouldn't fit my needs if I wanted to do more remote/long distance riding. But I'm going to just keep both. If I find the Experia meets the needs without issue I'll sell my KTM. KTM is currently in the shop.. getting some costly repairs done ...
My total all in with tax after my $3k deposit was about $28k. Keep in mind, I did add the $1k battery warranty option that is listed so I have the 5 year battery warranty now.

I realized I've only taken 1 photo... and it isn't a good one. This EvGO 100kwh DCFC failed after a few minutes. Tried another 100kwh at another station and it failed as well. This was on two different days. Yesterday went for a ride and got it down to 30%. I thought maybe it was the bike but then I tried the Electrify America chargers (see 30-80% session below, 25min) and it worked:

I don't know if the EVGO 100kwh chargers are having issues in general or if it's this bike.
-
I wonder if it might be a "charging protocol" or firmware issue which is giving the Experia grief using different chargers..?? Not all chargers are the same I suspect...??
I guess I'll find out myself soon enough....My new Experia should be less than a month away....I hope.

I cannot say I care much for now. The weather has been really bad everyday here lately. Roads full of ice and snow.

Yes: Hannover, Germany.
My Experia arrived with the dealer on Friday Jan 13th. Was there on Saturday to take a quick glance at it :D :D.
My dealer has got two Experias, another three are following somewhen in February. And I know of another German owner who has been given Jan 25st For pickup.
It seems like there was a handful of bikes for the US exclusively first (Rick and Samantha, for example) but now the roll-out begins. My dealer actually drove down to Modena with his van and picked up the Experias along with a SS9 - himself. If Energica would have delivered them he thinks you have to add circa three weeks for Energicas logistic milk run system.
What I have noticed compared to the May press release bikes which have been touring Europe from dealer to dealer for customer test rides:
- frame weld quality increased a lot, but not yet on par with Ribelle/SS9
- plastic parts have been given a surface texture: charge port, a cover around the upper tripple tree, under the lid: the top battery cover
- improved fit & finish of the fairing (front right was prominent as the early bikes showed a 10mm gap)
- SW now with more functions unlocked
- nuts to fix the GPS bracket onto are now molded in the plastic - they were missing before
- thicker paint, the sound of fingernails tapping on the painted parts is more… well… quality-like
The things sadly not improved:
- stickers not covered in paint (probably not feasible with matte paint?)
- ECU connector on right hand side still looks a bit patched together - I‘d love to see that better isolated
- orange high voltage cables on left side behind frame… for me it looks a bit like on a construction machine but not on a 30kEUR bike
All accessories like main stand, GPS bracket, hand guards are not yet available from Energica and on back order. Warranty is also 5yrs included for free as listed on the English website of Energica. Surprisingly, this is ONLY listed on the English site - no word of that in Italian, French or German. But included anyway if ordered before Dec 31st.
