I called the patent office and they hung up. Anyway...
1 take a spray can top and cut it so there is enough depth remaining to cover the charge port, but not so much to keep the lid from closing. 1.5" approx
2 cover the charge port with it
3 close the lid
4 profit

I don't get it, the port already has a cover over it and there's no problem if it gets wet from rain.

Well, idk. It bothers me.
Sometimes that thing fills up like a cup with water.
And its 240v connecting there.
Makes me feel better anyway if its dry.
So maybe for anyone else who doesnt like the water in there... heres a solution.

Good idea. Any chance to keep moisture out of an electrical connector is a chance at reducing corrosion which increases resistance and causes excessive heat that usually damages connectors.
Maybe adding a rubber band around the connector will provide a bit of a snug seal for the cap to really keep things clean. If the diameters are close enough at least

Back in my day we cut off a can top and stuck it on there... and that was good enough for us! We liked it!
Why I put the cap on there is I ride through rain a lot, and sometimes very heavy. And every time, the stock port cover lets in water. Seems like it would work. I don't blame the Zero engineers for thinking it would. I don't know how water gets in there. But the fact is, it doesn't work.
And always, I would stand there hyperventilating, blowing hard into the port with my mouth, and looking even more like an idiot than normal, to get the water out enough before hooking it up at work. There are two pins in that group that have a 2500Hz square wave on them, telling the bike how many amps it can pull. So I thought, if water bridges the line voltage pins to those signal pins it might be damaging to my bike or the station or both.
A couple days ago I was in the same situation, pulled up to work and my port is again a cup of water. For some reason, I said F it and put the charge handle in anyway, and went in to work. About an hour later, Chargepoint showed that station had gone offline. They could not reestablish communications with it and put it on a watchlist or something that means it is in queue for repair. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. The bike still charged.
So..... cap.
No more bike BJs, and hopefully protect the equipment.

I can see water getting under the flap but I wouldn't have thought it would get inside the connector. A little bit of water, say if it gets rained on for the short time it takes to plug it in, is fine. The connector is designed to be resistant to rain.

It might be where I live, and most other people wont have an issue. Summer rains in Florida can be about as solid as rain can get without being underwater.... so much water falling that you cant even see through it very far. Couple that with extended highway riding and this bike is used every day for a long trip, right at mid afternoon.
For those who don't know, in Central Florida summertime it rains precisely in the mid-afternoon almost every day. That's when I'm heading out for work. Of all the SR/S's produced mine has probably been ridden in rain the most.
