Title: 13.0 Monolith charging to 116.8 - 116.9 V
Post by: Kappi on July 19, 2020, 10:28:49 PM
Hey Folks,

I just installed the most recent firmware update on my SR and noticed that the charger would keep going for about 30 min after the SOC indicated 100% and would finally cut off at 116.8 V (Zero Spy).
Is this normal? I thought max pack voltage should be around 116.4.
Has anybody else noticed this?

Best regards
Kappi

The extra time is for cell balancing. According to the unofficial manual it will read 100% at 116.2v or 116.4v (I think it changed after a certain model year) but with 28 cells and a potential max voltage of 4.2v (it ranges from 4.15-4.2v) it could theoretically reach 117.6v.

Thanks for the feedback TheRan. What made me curious was that the charger was still pulling the full load from the outlet. Cell balance was 3-4 mV.

That is exactly what happens with my 2018 S. Before my charger died the other day, it would charge at 12 amps and then cut off with no tapering, according to a Kill-A-Watt meter. Cell balance would always be at 3-4 mV after the charger turned off according to the app.
