Software update
« on: August 03, 2019, 04:34:55 AM »

Today my Zero app says there's a software update (2018 SR). Does anyone have experience with this? I know, in the past, there's been some flakiness with updates. So I'm wondering if this update is OK. Also, if anyone (that would be Zero experts) has clues as to what the update actually does/why I need it ...

I just installed the two updates on my 2108 S.  The process took 30 minutes and at the end, as usual, the app said that the update had failed.  But, as usual, it didn't. If you turn off the ignition and turn it back on then check the app again you will find that there are no further updates that need to be installed, which means that the updates were installed correctly.

It doesn't look like Zero has updated their update information and doesn't show the subject two new update descriptions yet:  https://www.zeromotorcycles.com/owner-resources/firmware/

Didn't notice there was a new update.  Didn't they release one just last month?

Apparently there were two updates released during the past few days. I checked for updates 5 days ago and there were none available for my 2018 S at that time. They are firmware revisions for the BMS and the MBB.

I checked yesterday and there was nothing new for my 2018 S.

Well, that is odd. When I checked the Zero app yesterday afternoon, it said that there were two updates for my 2018 S (not SR) so I clicked the red box and away it went.  ???

It's possible the updates are staged so that not every Zero owner is hitting their servers simultaneously?

With Zero and their updates, there is no telling what is going on.  ;)

I guess that is why I got the update as I have a PT.  ;)

But Zero did update their site to include a bunch of SR/F firmware update information:

I was out riding today with my new MBB 27 and BMS 35 firmware updates. My bike seems to still run just fine.  I didn't notice any difference in performance or range.  So I guess that is a good thing.   ;)
