Water problems with DigiNow ?
« on: July 03, 2019, 05:51:26 PM »

Just saw this:

Anybody else having any "long term" experience with the Belly Pan, the chargers and any rainy trips ?

The chargers are IP67 rated. I literally kept a charger submerged in a bucket of water for a year and used it regularly.

The main thing to remember is that Sam modified his chargers. I can't guarantee chargers after people cut into the wiring.

Feel bad for the ICE riders on this trip, they had to put up with all this.  Stopping every 60 miles to charge for an hour or two?

Think of it this way: Electric motorcycles are the worst they're ever going to be right now. They'll only get better, more range, faster charging, etc. We're all sort of out in the Wild West frontier land here. 10 years from now we'll wonder how we ever put up with today's tech.

edit- so start working on your stories to tell the grandkids. "Back in my day we only had J1772 plugs that delivered 6.6kW!"

This is true.  I'm looking forward to those days.

Especially when I'm 22 miles into a ride on my FX and realize I have to turn around now...

Regarding water, I'm getting ready to do the pan mount, what about the thermal paste, will it wash away over time?

It does not hurt to check the belly pan every now and then to see if things are still OK in there.

Does anyone know if there is any possibility to still buy these chargers from somewhere?

If you are in the UK, try English Electric Motor Co as Alec has used too.
