Blew my 10A accessory socket fuse

Not sure how.  Noticed I felt pretty chilly on my ride in to work this morning, then discovered it was because there wasn't any current reaching it.

Who is the SADIST who decided to put the fusebox BEHIND that big, heavy black cable????

Does the fuse have a hairline crack in the element, or is it a wide blow with some black on the fuse's case?

I assume you were using it for heated clothing by seeing your first line.

Actually:  None of the above.  The fuse looked absolutely fine looking at it from the top.  It wasn't till I pulled it out that I saw the break.  The plastic was perfectly clear (no scorching) BUT it wasn't a "hairline crack," the break was quite obvious.  Almost a two mm gap in the element itself.  Weird. 

The vest only draws 3 amps.  I did use a heated jacket once that draws 5 amps but even that is half the 10 amps for which the fuse is rated.  Only other thing I've ever used in that socket is a USB adapter to keep my phone charged when I'm using Google Navigator on longer rides.

A 2 MM break sounds like a dead short or close to it. Makes me wonder what happened. Perhaps an intermittent  short right at the socket somehow.

I'll have to see if the same vest blows the fuse on my K1200LT.  I've never had an issue with it before.

Weird, I regularly simultaneously power a 70W Gerbing vest and 35W heated grips from the '16 FX SAE accessory plug without issue (should be somewhere around 7.5A draw).
