Front brake light switch issue
« on: November 14, 2018, 11:53:24 AM »

I"m having intermittent issues with my front brake light switch not always activating and was wondering if anyone has replaced or repaired it before. Thanks

New or damaged lever? Any chance it just needs adjustment?

My experience is that these front brake levers typically have a little micro-switch that can get out of adjustment or might get dirty and just need cleaning.  I just checked my Zero and it has a small brake switch assembly located under the front of the lever pivot that is attached with a couple of screws.  I suspect that you should be able to remove that switch and clean it with contact cleaner, which will probably solve your problem. If that doesn't work and there is no internal adjustment feature, it looks like replacing the switch should be easy to do.  In the meantime, using your rear brake when slowing down should make sure that the brake light functions.

The switch doesn’t seem to be available separately. I guess they want you to buy the whole master cylinder. Someone makes the switch for JJuan so maybe you can find one. I’m going to switch to a Suzuki DR400SM master with a Zeta folding lever.
