Is that a 30 mile round trip or 60 then?

If you want to buy new, people are pretty much paying MSRP.  The used market is so small, it's really hard to say what kind of deal you might find.  Previous model years can be found listed for a couple thousand less, but I don't know what people are actually paying for those. You may get a good deal on a private party sale, but hope you get one without issues if it's out of warranty.

Epopp1203,
You do not say where you live.  Including that information might help you connect with someone with a used machine.

Do you have a Zero dealership near you?  Have you done a test ride?  My local dealership often has Zero days where they have several test drive bikes set up and ready to go.

I also have been considering a Zero purchase for some time.  Setting cash aside for a while.  Considering trading in my Honda too.

There's a Buyer's Guide on zeromanual.com (useful for a number of questions) which I hope you'll find helpful in addition to advice here:

I counsel patience.
If you're still making monthly payments on your Honda, I vote you continue paying it off and setting duckies aside so you'll be in a better position to buy the Zero when the time comes.
Also, Springtime (when the snow finally breaks) is the worst time to buy a bike. The dealership knows they've got you in March--it would be better to save your money, pay off that Honda (and enjoy it! That's an awesome bike!) and walk in there with a fat stack in October or November, when the salesman is lonely and hornier to make a sale.

And stay away from motorcycle magazines. They are designed to make you unhappy with your current bike, and make you pine for the Next Big Thing. I have friends who can't make it two years on the same bike.

Good luck and keep us abreast.

There's a 2017 FX for $7k at Reno Cycles & Gear. Works great, I rode it as a loaner bike.

^^^^^ This^^^^
If I lived on Buffalo, this would be a great excuse to leave the snow behind for a few days to check it out. Shipping bikes is easy these days, or you could take the shipping money and rent a pickup to bring it home. Plus this would give you the opportunity to ride a bit in interesting places on the way home. Make it an event, not just a transaction.
