New Wire Diagram Inbound!
« on: December 11, 2017, 02:47:15 AM »

Some of you likely know I have been given a complete wire loom from  and unknown bike and was asked by the giver to document it and make a wire diagram similar to the 2013 zero S / DS diagram I made (see signature for link)

I was going to wait till I had the diagram ready to go but figured sharing the process (again) might be of interest to newer forum members.

I will update this post as I add more video / images.

Loom before labels

Loom after marking / documenting all connectors (3hrs)

Loom after removing the binding material (1hr)

Everything documented ... all ~183 connections (7hrs)

New connectors being made for visio diagram (3hrs)

Awesome!  What product do you use for marking cables?
I've been looking for something to use for that.

lol if you watch my part 1 you will see the "tools" or "products" I am "marking" cables with ...

That is just painters tape and a marker. It isn't meant to be permanent.

EDIT: just realized you are likely talking about the STOCK markers on the wire loom ...  Something like these is likely what you are looking for ... a vinyl tag you print on then peal off and stick on / wrap around. https://www.amazon.com/Brady-Self-Laminating-Vinyl-Label-M21-1000-427/dp/B003XU7T4E

So far as I can tell they simply printed the same thing over and over on a vinyl tape and stuck it over itself.

"excellent resistance to abrasion, dirt, oils, solvents, water and excess handling." Yes that's that's the stuff, thanks!

You are welcome sir :)

Might put another 3 hours into the visio connections tonight ... I am not sure I can get this new diagram out before the end of the year yet but we will see.

Added part 4 to this series on original post at bottom ;)

Starting to get into the nit and gritty of it ... I recently decided to remove the motor / controller / ccu / etc from the diagram since this will just be a diagram of the wire loom itself and not all the connection points (this could change btw it is just what I am doing now since I don't have a complete bike in front of me)

Enjoy (the 13-18 of you who actually watch these on YT)

Oh, and if you are boycotting YT for any reason you can find the same material on my minds.com page ... same username as YT https://www.minds.com/callmeburton ... where 1000+ people end up playing the video (ironic how that works out)
