New sport-touring fairing coming from Hollywood Electrics?
« on: August 30, 2017, 05:11:20 PM »

I haven't seen any mention of it here, but Electric Terry posted some photos on Facebook.  Looks like he's working with them on the airflow characteristics.  Looks like it'll fit the S/SR bikes.  It also looks SWEET and I hope it is reasonably affordable when it is finally released.

I love it.  The turn signals go somewhere.  I'm not really attached to the headlight, though.  A LED headlight with a reflector actually designed for LED with good optics would be nice.

Using the existing equipment as much as possible will help keep the costs down, which I also consider important. An LED replacement headlight as an OPTIONAL extra would be nice, as long as it accepts the stock unit by default. The current draw between the stock halogen lamp and an LED lamp might be worth 20 feet more travel distance in the real world.  Not worth it to me.

What's up with that battery arrangement?
Looks like two added longbrick batteries one on each side. Not related to the sport fairing.

Yeah he has extra batteries and a 4 brick diginow SCv2 charger below where the onboard used to be.

Why not use mirrors with turn signals in them?

According to Terry on Facebook, Hollywood Electrics is working on manufacturing now and the fairings should be available for sale within two months (just in time for Christmas?).  No word on pricing or color matching (yet).

Thanks for the interest. The fairing that Terry is using is a final production unit, as are the fairings on the race bike. More are being manufactured but it is a time consuming and expensive process at low volumes. We've made this a turnkey install for those with 2014+ S/DS/SR/DSR bikes, OEM colors will be offered for 2017+ models. We will have more information on pricing and availability shortly but in the meantime if you want to be put on our waiting list, (no deposit required), you can email us at info at hollywoodelectrics.com

I'm buying one as soon as I'm allowed to.

I think I'll put it on my 2013 DS (which will require some mounting modifications; 2014+ models are the intended target with S/SR seemingly ideal) because my DSR is deep into the streamlining spectrum already but hopefully the adaptation will be worthwhile to document and the bike should look really good.
