Limited Aux. Power Workaround
« on: July 20, 2017, 06:41:27 PM »

I intend on installing louder/duel horns as well as heated grips on my 16 DSR.

I THINK I can power both from the 10 Amp Aux circuit via a DPDT relay for the horns that would serve double duty.
I would switch the circuit downstream of the 10 amp fuse via one of the poles N.C. contacts  & use this for the heated grips (as will as a phone charger in the power port).
The other pole will serve as the new horn relay (energized by the existing horn circuit).
This will insure I don't overload the 10amp circuit in the event I need to use the heated grips & horn simultaneously.

If I need additional power for heated gear then I need an other solution.

Could I use a 12vdc in/12vdc out power supply like DesignerDan used here?.....

Or is there a different/better way to increase the power available?
Coming from a BMW RT, I'm kinda spoiled :-\
Might be nice to be able to power electricity heated gear come Winter.

Curiously that's exactly what i was thinking about last week.

I have 3 additional Zero horn and based on the actual 10A fuse, it would be more risky to install 3 more parallel horn to the existing... because when flasher and other light are ON they also are on the same fuse..... The solution:  using a relay that the coil is activated by the same output as what is powering the regular horn and the NO contact o fthat relay  thru the second AUX 12V output to power all 4 horns or only the 3 additional one  would work nice.

Something i wanted to do is to measure the current draw  by one of those... but my wife was sleeping upstaire when i wanted to do that so.. next time!
