Soon! Zero 2017 SR with powertank!!
« on: June 15, 2017, 05:13:56 AM »

Well after many years of DIY and madmaxing all my previous Zero ( 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015), i finally decided that this is time to enjoy a brand new one with all the features i want. I confirmed to my local dealer today and i bought a 2017 SR with powertank!

I dont want wait to get a cancer like my two neiborhood got recently... I decided that this is time to taste what i have wait for years: To get All the new great features of a recent one and not spend half of the summer to DIY one and only have the other half to ride it.

I sold my 2012 S rebuit with a 2015 S frame  and  two additional ZF3 pack and found a buyer that is really happy with and also that bought all my Zero parts i had in multiples box here and taking dust for month or years...

Now time for 775A !!!    time for 116 lb-Ft !!!   time for ZF16.3 !... It's time for FUN !!

We also enjoy a great 2000$ rebate incitive here and also get a free quickcharger.  Diginow will come in the next weeks.

I'm very happy with my choice!!... .. i expect to get it with in the next two weeks.

N'joy. Took my stock sr 2015 for a relaxing midsummer ride with my missus to day. Got 104km and 30% left. All it took was relaxed driving at app 60-70 km/h.

Congratulations Doc.
Did you get rid of your drag racer as well? I picked up a 2016 SR in January with the intent of selling my FXs. The SR is more practical but the FXs is so much fun to ride that I kept it.
Was going to wait to see what 2018 had to offer but the price was so good I had to take it.

Thanks for the wishes.  :)

You said your 2015 Zero can only do like 140km on a charge at that speed??.. that is not normal!.. I was able to get 150km on my 2012 ZF9 (at 60km/h)... so unless you had a ZF8.6 battery i think your Zero have a problem noh?

I'm very happy for you. :) Being able to treat the bike as just a vehicle is very gratifying.

If you do get the itch, though, I and others would appreciate you documenting any details you notice on the bike for the unofficial manual. Photos and how-to's would also be welcome...

Thanks to all!!  the next 2-3 weeks will be very difficult!!! the wait will be unsupportable! :o

For those who wonder how the hell will i be able to fit  a supercharger AND a powertank on the same bike.. well the answer is that the supercharger will be a V1 (i got an AWSOME deal on a 11kW unit from a great friend) and i expect to split it into two modules with lower height and fit these under the bike.

If the inductors and caps and control board that Emotor Werk designed for teh Zero in 2015 are easy to split i will do it.

I will document it the best as i can in a way that that it  keep respect to Zero.

I will pay full price  the 2017 SR and powertank but will enjoy a 2000$ rebate incentive at least...  I have  made a very big clean up in my garage and all the sold parts will go for a great buyer that will know what to do with in multiple future EV projects... he also bought my modified 2012-2015 Zero S with range extander battery case... He have about 30kWh of lithium battery now..   so i bought the 2017 with that money.

I'm very curious to discover the feeling of full power at 3500rpm.. witch is lower than the previous 4300rpm.

That's awesome. SCv1 users are now a very very tiny minority (includes me) but documenting this would be instructive for V2 as well. I'd like to know how you do this; maybe we can recover the SCv1 hardware in this way for more Zero projects, and I'm interested in side-mounting my chargers around the forward battery frame enclosure.

I will say that I've seen some prototype SCv2 mockups replacing the Calex under the belly pan, which only costs a cm of clearance once the cooling fins are removed.
