Just joined and MERRY Christmas
« on: December 25, 2016, 03:35:57 AM »

Just purchased a '13 Zero S/SR. It was totaled and rebuilt with '15 SR parts frame included with new 12.5 kW battery. The only '13 parts are the motor, speed controller and swingarm. Got to the bottom of my road and broke the belt will have a new one in a few days going nuts waiting. Wanna ride this thing!! Also have a '14 BMW S1000R with lots of mods and a '14 Grom

I live off grid and my solar can recharge no problem other then rainy days that I don't really ride in anyway. The bikes battery is the same size as the AGM that has powered my home for the last 12 years! This house battery is 1100 pounds though!!

That sounds like a reasonable rebuild, congrats.

Take it easy with the belt - what breaks belts mainly is if you keep using the throttle after your rear wheel leaves the ground, causing a huge jerk to snap the belt on landing.

The other apparently sure way to break a belt is to get sand between the belt teeth and the sprocket.

If you ever manage to use your Zero's battery in concern with your house's electrical system, we'd be curious how you arrange it. That's been discussed from time to time but no one's had enough motivation / initial setup to carry it out.

I'll never tap the bike's batt for my home as the voltage is not compatible and a huge DC-DC converter would be unrealistic and I have $2500 in solar charge controllers that will not charge the Li-ion.
