Using The Zero's OBD Connector

Looking through the Unofficial Manual, I see the Zero has an OBD port like a car. On my Chevy Volt, I use the OBD connector and a App called Torque OBD2 and I can read numerous points of data such as; battery data balancing - charger - motor and all currents & voltages.

My question is; does the Zero's OBD port supply readable information as well and has anyone attempted to read the Zero's OBD?

No, you cannot use an OBD plugin made for a car on the Zero.

I see that the manual does not explicitly say that this doesn't work. I'll figure out how to make sure it's clear about that. It doesn't work.

The manual does explain how to connect to it, and it's very specific because that's the only way to use the port. I have heard that a data connection dongle for the Zero will be available again soon, at least. I have one of the old models.

There is / was a dongle available for the Zero from DigiNow the people who make the "supercharger". I got mine from Harlan at
Hollywood Electrics. Not sure if still available. There was some level of "programming" allowed by way of the dongle. I have a 2013 FX
my understanding is that this year / model had the least amount of programming available. As newer models came along, I have been
led to believe that more options are available. I am guessing that the 2017 is now able to be updated by the user there may be more
options with this. I have the Torque app as well have had it for years. I believe that the reason that a standard automotive OBDII won't
work is because of some pin swapping.

Thanks for the reply's - too bad I spent almost a year working with my Torque app on my Chevy volt - I like to know what's going on. My DSR is a 17 has anyone actually tried to do the 17 models?

Would seem advantageous to get the port standard with the industry

I don't expect 2017 to change because the dealer cables depend on the pin arrangement.

Maybe someone can try rewiring one of these devices to use the other pin, just to see what it recognizes. At least until a new dongle is available.

Oh, and one limitation with using a car connector on the Zero (after 2013) is that the space in front of the port is extremely tight. There's only enough room for a plug and an inch or so in front of it before it runs into the seat mounts.

The photo is showing the cabling on the left side under the very front of the seat, just behind where the tank joins the seat.

Now, I haven't had a look inside a 2017 yet, so it could be in a different place! If you feel like taking some photos to show, I wouldn't mind. (My 2016 is getting some customizations done so I don't have it handy to compare, and my 2013's port is in another location entirely).
