Problem with an EVT 168
« on: May 30, 2008, 01:26:43 AM »

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me with a problem on my EVT 168.  On a recent trip I braked at a stop and when I tried to set off I'd lost all motor power.  I still have a charged battery and power to my lights, horn etc.  I have checked all connectors and fuses and have even changed my electronic controller unit but it hasn't helped.  The power loss was so sudden that I was wondering if it muight be a brake sensor  power cut out issue but I don't know how to test them except to pull them out of the bars and check that they appear to be working, which they do.  Has anybody else had a similar problem?  I'd be grateful for any help.

thanks

Neil

simplest way would be to poke around with a voltmeter untill you find the component which is not getting any power, starting with the control unit.
The brake sensors can be tested properly using a voltmeter also, shud be two wires, with 0 ohm resistance when in brake is in one position, and a much larger resistance when in the other position.
