Zero App update
« on: November 04, 2016, 03:23:09 PM »

Zero has updated their App. What's new- Owners of 2017 models can use the App to update their motorcycle's firmware. Also miscellaneous bug fixes and performance enhancements. Support for Italian language.

Hmmm, hoped they'd fix it but no... I am a Dutch resident and therefore i get a Dutch decimal separator (,) in the mini keyboard when setting things up in the app instead of the (.) The app then blabbers about a wrong value and then reverts to the old values. I have to set my locale to US and change stuff.... which is sort of a PITA ;)

Side-note for those of us using ChargePoint app is the updated version 5.11.1 has the 2016 models for Zero Motorcycles i.e. can now select my 2016 DSR ZF 13.0 :)

The updated Zero app complains it can't update firmware on a rooted Android phone, also it needs a 2017 model year bike. I wonder if the firmware update will work on a OnePlus phone?

After the update mine says "Unknown Bike Model".
It's 2016 Zero FXS,

Also says 87% charge when it should be 100%.

There's a button that says "FIRMWARE UPDATE" in the support section.

Update:
Repairing the phone and bike fixed the problem for me.

Previous version of the app would indicate how much longer it'll be before the battery is fully charged.  Current version always displays "0" in that field.  :-[

This.    Also seeing 0's for "Time to Full Charge", App Version v1.4.56 (18) on OS Version 6.0.1 (23); bike is 2016 DSR.

Same here. I'm hoping it self-calibrates.

Are you guys that aren't seeing the charge time on Apple or Android?  I have Android and a 2014 Zero S and don't see any issues with the time to charge using the latest app update.

Hi,

Since the November app update, I can't connect my Zero to my phone. My bike has a trusted Bluetooth connection to the phone, but when I open the app it won't connect to the bike. I keep trying, and it seems that when it finally connects, the app dies and states, "Unfortunately, Zero Motorcycles has stopped." I have tried killing the app, rebooting the phone, relinking the Bluetooth connection, reinstalling the app, and I still have no luck. The app either doesn't recognize the bike, even though Bluetooth does, or the app crashes when it is seemingly trying to connect.

I have a 2016 Zero SR. My phone is an Android Droid Maxx running Android 4.4.4 (19) patch level 2016-04-01. The Zero App is version 1.4.56(18).

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am flummoxed. I am wondering if I need to roll back to the pre-November (2017 Zero) app update and if that is even possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jack

Android 4.4?  Hmmmm... I THINK you can still do this, but I forget the full methodology.

You want to go to your application settings, bring up the settings for the Zero App, then clear the data and cache.  This will reset EVERYTHING and it SHOULD work.  This has worked for 99% of the failing apps I've experienced so with luck it should work for you too.

JaimeC,

Thanks for the advice. I flushed the data and cache, deleted the software, unpaired the bike, and then reinstalled the software and reconnected the bike to my phone. No luck. The app update still prevents me from connecting my bike to my phone. Sigh... i would like to blame Verizon for the ancient version of Android on my phone, but it seems like a Motorolla issue. Who knows if that is the reason. I'd hate to buy a new $600 phone just to get the Zero app to work. Maybe my best bet will be to try and snag the old version of the app, if possible.

Thanks!

It's not bad you can get a $50 phone used compatible with CyanogenMod Android and update to a recent version;  Samsung Galaxy S3 is one such phone that is compatible and can be found used inexpensively.
