I was in the same boat when I mounted LED flashers..
But today I managed to locate the relay of my 2014 DS and changed it into a version which don't relay on the ballast connected for its flash rate. Becourse I have installed earlier the LED flashers from Weiser, the current flash rate was quite hyper. ( a bit strange, becaurse Weiser states on its website to be competely compatible with Zero..)
To get the new relay to work I had to swap the + and - wires in the relay socket of the bike. This is easily done by pressing a smal screw driver between the plastic and the metal of the connector.
The new relay I got now was unfortunately not 100% weather sealed in my opinion. Here in Holland rain showers and a high humidity degree are not unusual. Together with the location of the relay wich is not really shielded from water being spashed up by the front wheel, I felt the need for extra protection. So I pulled off the hood of the relay and dipped the inside electronics into a 2 component epoxy. When dried I put the electronics back in the hood and sealed everything with some extra epoxy. See pics below for location of the relay and the epoxy treadment.
Now the flash rate is back to original, with the modern look of LED flashers. Happy turnsignalling ;-)
