Well that didn't take long.  All of a sudden my turn signals don't work.  Neither do the four way flashers.  Fortunately the brake light, tail light and headlight all work...  :(

Check for a blown fuse.

Guess I'll have to RTFM.  That's the one problem with the "Manual on a Stick."  I wish there was a "Printed option."

Just uploaded the PDF to my Smartphone's Kindle Directory.  Now I'll be able to refer to it on the road anyway.

I KNEW it wouldn't be that easy.  According to the owner's manual, the fuse that protects the turn signals and four-way flashers is the same one that protects the horn and the brake light.  I already knew the brake light still worked and I checked the horn... that works too (and I need to get something LOUDER; any recommendations?).

Just to be sure I pulled the saddle and checked... all the fuses are fine.  Guess I'll use hand signals until I bring it in for its 600 mile check up.  :(

When I bought my 2012 S, the turn signals didn't work (it didn't have emergency flashers).  It turned out that the flasher module was defective.  The dealer removed one off of a 2011 Zero on the showroom floor and replaced the defective one.  It has been working fine ever since.  No doubt your dealer can find similar flasher unit in his IC parts collection (so that you don't have to wait for a flasher unit to be ordered and arrive from the Zero factory).  I am pretty sure turn signal flasher units are all pretty much the all same.

That was the "guess" from the people on the Facebook Zero group:  Defective flasher relay.  I'll point it out when I get the bike in for its 600 mile service or the top case comes in (whichever comes first).

Turns out it wasn't the flasher relay, it is a defective switch on the left handlebar.  Part was ordered, probably have it in a week.

AND they replaced the switch today and the flashers STILL didn't work.  They insisted they tested the relay and it worked.  The technician attempted to contact ZERO's support line but no one was picking up.  Since I was on my lunch hour, I had them put it back together and I rode it back home.  Once they speak to someone at Zero they'll contact me again.  In the meantime, I'll be up in Lake George next week for the Americade with one of my ICE bikes.

Well, you can always use hand signals - assuming that other drivers around you will know what you are waving at.   ::)

That's what I've been doing.

Interesting aside:  Back when I was certified as an MSF Instructor (in the days before we were called RiderCoaches), we discussed hand signals with our Chief Instructor.  He said almost nobody understands hand signals any more BUT because they are so infrequently used, car drivers NOTICE when you use them.

They may not understand what you're trying to tell them... but at least now they're aware you're THERE!

Heard back from the dealership.  They FINALLY got through to Zero's tech line and they suggested a different part to resolve my issue.  It's on the way to the dealership now, so I guess when I get back from the Americade we'll see if it fixes the problem.

I had the same problem with the flashers and turn signal not working when I picked up my new Zero S a year ago. I brought it back in to the dealer and they had it fixed in about 15min.  Something was hooked up incorrectly.  Don't know what it was.

Can't be the EXACT same thing, as mine worked the day I picked it up.  It stopped working a day later and hasn't worked since... though a couple of times when I turned on the bike, a flasher would be blinking until I pushed in the button to stop it.  However, after I did that, it wouldn't blink again no matter what.  It hasn't even done THAT recently, though.

Third time's the charm.  I FINALLY have working turn signals and hazard lights.  It WAS a defective relay... just not the one they THOUGHT it was.  Doesn't matter... my S is now 100%!

Unless they were looking at the wrong relay last time.  I imagine there are more than one relays in the bike.  Most ICE motorcycles have multiple relays.  Unfortunately, it's not like there's a service manual or something I could use to look these things up...  >:(
