Zero Factory Tour Livestream 3/16 1PM PDT
« on: March 16, 2016, 06:47:44 PM »

Zero is billing the event as a factory tour for Bob Burnquist, a popular X-Games competitor and apparently a Zero fan. I don't know the guy, but all press is good press.

If you happen to be in the Santa Cruz area, though, swing by the factory and check it out. You don't always have to be a pro athlete to get your own factory tour :)

I was very impressed with the manufacturing.

Zero is the size and age of a start-up, but they have the process of a mature high quality company.

Lots of nice tools to do the job right.

They know what Kanban.

Lots of quality checks.

It was really nice to see the inside of the battery.  I know they were going with a large format pouch cell, but they do really package them tightly.  Isn't that what Boeing did with it caught fire?  I'm not really worried.

The batteries only catch fire if they're abused. I get the feeling that Zero have gone to great lengths to make sure the cells are well protected.

For those of you living in the states, you might want to avoid the hail of bullets flying everywhere, but other than holes being punched right through the cells I think they're safe.

Just don't park your Zero outside a school, church or shopping mall in the U.S. and you'll be fine... [emoji6]
