Brake regen tech
« on: January 31, 2016, 09:40:07 AM »

Does anybody knows how, technically, brakes regenerates ?  Is it kinf of tech used on F1?
Regen at Decelerating is very easy to understand, and we wish we could even get more "engine brake" when decelerating, so more electricity produced, because we have a lot of high residences here in Tahiti, so going down with less brake pad would make sense.

The brakes don't actually do any regen. The motor controller just steps up to a higher level of regen. I presume the signal from the brake light is used as a simple on/off signal to the motor controller to step up to the higher level.

The motor controller is capable of far more -- Burton has rigged up a lever on his left handgrip which feeds an analog signal into the controller, so he can have any level of regen he wants at any given time. It sounds pretty sweet. Your options for saving power would be nearly ideal for any circumstance.

Thank you Doug for the info,

then the 2 little tubes going down along the brake hoses to the hubs are fake?

no. I think you're looking at the wheel speed sensor wires for the ABS.
Nothing on the bike is "fake"... other than the "radiator scoops" on the FX and the "gas tank" on the S models.
