IXXAT USB to CAN Compact RJ45-OBD2 cable setup
« on: December 29, 2015, 01:09:51 AM »

Hi,

I just bought the Sevcon interface, should be in my hands in a few days  :)  (model 1.01.0088.XXXXX V 1.5) and was wondering if any of you are familiar with the RJ45-OBD2 cable/connections setting. I have also bought this cable, but I suspect it might not be set properly for the controller

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251297969964?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I have checked the forum information as well as from other members -Thanks evtricity- and there seems to be only information related to Serial DB9 to OBD2, not RJ45

Your help is appreciated!

pinout is on manufacturere's website in the manual, page 7:
http://www.ixxat.com/docs/librariesprovider8/default-document-library/products/can-pc-interfaces/usb-to-can-v2-manual-english.pdf?sfvrsn=2

CAN-High pin 1
CAN-Low pin 2
GND pins 3 and 7

Match that with the Zero pinout for CANH, CANL and GND.

Thanks

OBD2 is a standard pinout, regardless of it being a Zero. CANH and CANL are the same across the board.

Thanks Frodus.
I probably asked the question wrongly…I know OBD2 is a std plug, what I meant is the way Zero uses those pins (the way they are connected). As you guys are saying that Zero does not follow industry std. I just want to make sure I understand…

Apologize for my limited knowledge on this. Although I'm an electronic engineer, and understand the "basics"...I have never worked as such  :-[
My knowledge is more business related -and as a hobby- batteries  ;)
