Grip Covers for Handlebars
« on: August 05, 2015, 05:18:51 PM »

I have arthritis and need grips that are a bit "fatter" and more comfortable.  Instead of replacing the grips on my 2014 ZERO S I used something called GRIP BUDDIES http://originalbeemerbuddies.com/.  I found them at the shop when I was having my 1985 BMW K100RS worked on.  They make things much more comfortable and have been written up in RIDER MAGAZINE http://www.ridermagazine.com/gear/original-grip-buddies-super-sharkskin-motorcycle-grips-review.htm/ .  Thumbing through a HARLEY catalog I also found covers for my rear brake leverfrom J&P CYCLES http://www.jpcycles.com/search/search?Ntt=foam+lever+covers&N=28012733&Ntk=All .  On long rides these little things help.  Sure wish someone would start a WEB clearinghouse for aftermarket accessories for e-bikes.

Have you thought about trying foam grips? Desert guys are using them. There are many different shapes, brands and prices e.g. http://www.raiddesigns.com/en/products/products-and-services/rallye-parts/rally-foam-grips.html

I have been using Original Grip Buddies on my BMWs and Royal Enfield for the past 4 years and like them.  They really help to reduce vibration and make the grips feel more comfortable. They are easy to install and seem quite durable.  While you can remove them, be aware that the original sticky glue on the back of the covers is very hard to remove from the handlebars once the Buddies have been on the grips for a while.

The Royal Enfield really needs them to cut vibration through the handlebars.  The Zero not so much, so I don't have them on that bike.   :)
