I have a problem when my Zero S ZF9 goes into reduced power mode due to overheating motor when used at higher speeds or sustained acceleration bursts. The red triangle blinks and then the power is reduced. Is this normal?
Does anyone have a solution to this?

They all do that, sir.     The bikes will do about 85 mph for sort bursts, but continuous top speed is something like 70.

My only overheating issue was well above 80, but I think Richard230's guidelines are correct.

between 60-70 when under hard acceleration and climbing hills. ambient temp about 15 degrees
Did it whilst overtaking, ( pretty dangerous )
Kind of makes it unsuitable for motorway use really

In a word, poorly. My SR overheats on warm days (100F, which we do have a fair amount of here in San Diego) at anything over 75 mph or so. It seems like a big weakness to me -- granted, the bike is no speed demon, but we can't even use the speed that it has?

One of the very first mods you have to do on the SR, if you want to use it in any sort of "sporting" way, is find a way to get some cooling air to the motor. From what I've seen, most often a full fairing is added, with a duct from an air intake on the fairing down into the motor area. Getting air OUT of there is also necessary, or it just piles up and reduces flow.

however the air cooled ICE bike doesn't just go into limp home mode when it gets hot.
I am just amazed that they chose to release a bike with such an obvious design flaw, maybe the next $1M they have just got from the California state handout will help them fix this...
even the 2009 Zero S had carbon fibre side scoops in the front sides of the bike so in effect they have actually gone backwards

No it goes home on a flat bed, after the casing expands, the gasket fails, dumps all its oil and seizes up solid. (Yeah that was a bad day)
