Anyone Asked for and Gotten Back Their Deposit?
« on: November 14, 2014, 05:14:50 AM »

I'm just curious if anyone has requested the return of their deposit and, if they have, how long it took Mission to return it.

Thanks,
Bill

Whew.
I think I just dodged a bullet.
I just got a check in the mail from Mission for $900.
It was not the $1000 I gave them which is a little strange given that Mark Seeger told me I could have the deposit back at any time.  I'm sure there is an "I Accept" button on some web page or some print in some agreement that states you only get back part of your deposit if Mission fails to do what they say they will do and you decide to give up waiting on them or believing them when they tell you something.

I will consider myself lucky that I got $900 back.  I really thought I had lost the whole thing.

I shared my disappointment with Mr. Seeger.  This was his response.

Well, that is not a very pleasant response......   :(

Even if they were unhappy with you that is not a good response from a company that wants to stay in business, especially in this day of the internet where everything you say is made available to the entire world.   ::)  Sometimes it is just best to keep your thoughts to yourself.   ;)

"Please never contact me again. You have been the singular most disappointing contact I have yet had." I find it hilarious, I have had to deal with many people in my business and wanted to tell them this. Now was it a popular business move - probably not  :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

If you go to their web page and click on any of the Reserve buttons you have to click "Accept" on the agreement.  This is (currently) its first paragraph:

Quote
2014 Mission R Reservation Agreement

By submitting a 2014 Mission R Reservation Agreement (defined below), you (“You” or “Your”) agree to the following terms and conditions with Mission Motorcycles, Inc (“Mission Motorcycles”). You agree to pay a $1,000 Reservation List Fee (the “Reservation List Fee”) by credit card, Paypal, check or wire transfer. The Reservation List Fee is fully refundable, less a $100 processing fee, should You choose to abandon Your reservation.

I spoke directly with Mark when I placed my deposit and he specifically said I could have my money back.

I also clicked on the accept button so I "accepted" whatever was written (which, of course, I did not read).

Mark is perfectly within his rights to send back $900 instead of the $1K he said he would send back.  I "accepted" so I am responsible.

I am also perfectly within my rights to say that Mission told me they would ship me a bike on two separate occasions.  On the separate occasion when they slipped my delivery by three months they knew perfectly well that they were going to miss that date and push it out another nine months.  In short, they were not forthcoming.

The wise thing for any CEO to do was to apologize for missing the delivery and send back the whole deposit.  Instead, Mission kept $100 and we are discussing the issue.  This decision making is exactly why I requested my deposit back.
