Here is a great review published by Motorcycle.com of the 2014 Brammo Empulse R.  It contains a video interview with Eric Bostrom regarding the bike and they discuss the improvements made to the 2014 model, compared with the 2013 bike (along with a few digs at Zero's design choices, without mentioning the brand's name).

They also digged a little at Brammo for not having adjustable settings like Zero (regen, power, ect)..... wish they'd do this!

Their bike seems well built.

But can't they make it without a gear box? I don't want to pay for something completely optional on electric motorcycles. I would pay for the liquid cooling if I needed one, but here I never had any cut.

My only complaints about the Empulse is that it has a drive chain and after 52 years of adjusting, replacing and oiling chains, I really appreciate belt drive.  I can appreciate the benefit of the transmission during sporting use, but I don't need it for my type of utility riding.  Finally, the Empulse  starting procedure seems too involved for me.  I prefer Zero's system of just turning on the ignition key and riding off. 

Also, it seems to me that Brammo should have no problem coming up with a rider-adjustable regen program option.  If Zero can do it, Brammo can surely do it also.

I also appreciate the attention to detail and solid development that Brammo has put into the Empulse R and the relatively high-quality chassis components.

No more complicated than other bikes you've had in that 52 years of riding :)

Well, I do miss kick starting a motorcycle to get it going.  It was also nice to be able to run the engine without a battery.   :)  On the other hand, motorcycles back in the day required a lot of roadside repairs and maintenance to get to your destination.  You don't need to do that much nowadays.  :)
