Rider magazine reviews the 2014 Zeros
« on: January 25, 2014, 04:29:03 AM »

On page 12 of the March 2014 issue of Rider magazine is a review of the 2014 Zero line.  Unfortunately (and understandably considering that the bikes are just now leaving the factory), their review is not what we would like to see, but it is a full-page article describing the 2014 Zeros.  While it is nothing that can't be seen on Zero's web site, it is nice that this major U.S. publication gives their readers a comprehensive description of the bikes near the front of the magazine - especially as Zero does not advertize in the publication and the last letter in their "Response" section on page 10 complains about Zero's high prices.

Besides describing Zero's various models and prices, it has a nice photo of the 46-pound (eek) Z-force Power Tank being inserted into the stuff bay (what BMW used to call this area on their F650CS).  Unfortunately, having ordered the Power Tank for my new Zero S, I noted in the caption under the photo that there will be an extra charge for the dealer installation of this accessory.  Between the 11.4 S, the Power Tank, the rear rack and top box and the windshield that I have ordered for my bike, it looks like this is going to be a significant (and somewhat heavy) investment.

My BMW dealer is really missing out by not selling the Zero.  Their customers are very comfortable with that price range.   ::)

My local dealer handles Zero, BMW, Husquavarna and Ural.   You are right Richard, the Bimmer crowd doesn't see an issue with the Zero prices and my local dealer sold a good number of 2013 Zeros.

They still have a 2012 Zero DS with a Corbin Saddle that was a demo model if anyone is looking for a lightly used 12 DS ZF9 I am sure they would make a great deal on it, but they sold out of the 2013s and I understand that they have a few of the 2014s sold as soon as they arrive.
