Loud rattling
« on: October 05, 2013, 09:17:15 PM »

I dropped the bike a few months ago and after a while something started rattling as I go over bumps/road imperfections.  Over time it's got worse but I have gone over the bike shaking all the bits I can get too and can't find anything that is loose.   It doesn't sound like bits of fairing rubbing together or anything, more like something reasonably heavy clattering around.

Im thinking it's towards the rear of the bike quite low down but i'm lost for ideas now.  Any guesses would be appreciated!

I'm assuming you are using the belt drive so it wouldn't be chain noise. What about the little plastic sub-fender?

Have you looked / removed the battery protection plate maybe you got some gravel inside.

I will have a look in the bash plate.  I don't think its that Trikester, it feels well fixed and the noise sounds like something quite heavy.  I thought it might be the controller but the heat sink at least is solid.

Check your rear end.  My rattling came from a broken bracket.  See picture attached.

The same bracket broke on my 2011 S.
I soldered it back together with a piece of aluminum bar for strength.
Now it's all solid again. Zero made a mistake there, that bracket is not beefy enough.

I use HTS2000 to solder aluminum pieces. http://www.aluminumrepair.com/

I also broke my front brake handle when I dumped the bike last year, used the same stuff to put it back together.
No one can tell it was fixed.
