Ok, so I'm really excited about this as sometimes I ride my bike 200-300 miles a day.

Trouble: Not a single CHAdeMO charger in Florida.  They're mostly on the west coast.

But that's ok, I just want to know what the batteries can handle.

If it's 11.4kwh and can charge 95% in an hour, it's able to accept almost 11,000 watts.  And if the new battery packs are 102 volts (28 in series?) than it looks like the 11.4 pack can handle a little over 100 amps.

Perfect, because the J1772 ports can only deliver 7200 watts max, yet it seems silly to use the port and not charge at it's max capability.  Right now the 2012 ZF9 only supports 3 additional chargers, and when the pack is low, it's only charging at 3200 watts and eventually reaches 3800 watts when full.  I've wished many times pacing back and forth I could add 2 more chargers, I have space for them already under the back seat 9where I mounted my first charger) and inside the tank bag.

The Leaf and Volt this year charge at 3.3kw, but next year they and the ford focus are supposed to charge at 6.6kw.  It would be awesome to set up detachable chargers for roadtrips (or just leave them on as I do now) to let you charge at 6-7kw since the batteries look like they will handle it.  The new chargers (anyone know what brand and model?) are 1.3kw chargers, so 5 of them would be 6500 watts.  Perfect! I hope the new BMS can "enable" 4 additional chargers!  Anyone know anything about this?  I would love to start planning now.

Zero rates the pack at 11.4 kWh maximum capacity - probably they calculate this in the same way as for the 2012 bikes, total pack voltage @ 4.2 v per cell times pack capacity. Eg ZF9 = 18 * 4.2v (75.6 v) * 120 Ah = 9072 Wh. Since the nominal voltage is 3.65 volts per cell, a closer gauge of pack capacity (nominal capacity) is 3.65 * 18 * 120 Ah = 7884 Wh.

Probably the 11.4 kWh max capacity packs are 10.0 kWh nominal capacity, so a 1C charge would be 10 kW.

The smaller bikes - XU and FX - use a 650 W charger. I wouldn't be surprised if Zero is building their own chargers, and either has a half-size charger for the small bikes or uses two 650 W chargers in parallel for the S and DS bikes.

Saw two CHAdeMO chargers this weekend while I was driving back from TN, at one of the cracker barrels there. TN has a pretty decent corridor for CHAdeMO charging, running much of the length of the state along interstates.

Is Zero going to offer an extra-charger option on the 2013s? I didn't see that in the literature, though it would be a step backward if they didn't. I didn't see mention of a J1772 option, either, but those are somewhat easier to build yourself.

The 2013 MX uses a 1 kW offboard charger, presumably a higher voltage DeltaQ. It does have a 2x quick charging option (reducing 0 to 95% charge time from 4.4h to 2.2h for the MX 5.7), though it lacks the CHAdeMO charger.

I don't see why they wouldn't offer a J1772 inlet option, though it will not reduce charge times.

I'm building a Level 2 1772 charge point for my garage using 240 volt @ 75 amps.  Were you talking about the limit on Level 1 charging?

I think the overwhelming majority of J1772 stations in the wild max out at 30A.

Curiously i just wrote something about that in the supercharger v2 thread!

I just tought about that yesterday...

These flatpack S from eltek are not just compact.. they can also take DC at their INPUT !!  at up to 250VDC

Witch mean that if you want 10kW+ and add many for ultrafast charging as you dont have may 40A+ level II charge station in your area,   it would be possible to connect these to a Chademo or SAE combo DC level 3 charger with the proper interface and connector.

The chademo can do 250Vdc if i remmeber correctly.

The official specs are 50-500V. But yes, although pretty hard to realise it would be possible, I would like to recommend ChaDeMo over CCS because their communication protocols are way easier to work with.
