1700 mile roadtrip completed
« on: June 26, 2012, 12:21:36 AM »

Hey guys, it's Terry.  I've been back for a few days but finally got time to post thanks to 4 solid days of tropical storm Debbie keeping me from doing anything else lol.

Over 4000, close to 5000 miles on the bike now in almost 2 months, charging at over 4.1 kw, trips achieved of over 100 miles between charges, and see speeds up to 96 mph now.  A lot has been done to the bike and more to come obviously.  You can view more details on the ZF9 Zero S or follow the page dedicated to the bike here: http://www.facebook.com/lifeoffthegrid

In the next 2 weeks, the goals are 150 mile range at highway speed, charge at 6 kw, and have 3 extra kwh of battery capacity

I've tried for 20 min and can't seem to post the right url to insert pictures here from facebook.  Anyone know how?  Thanks.

Very nice : ) I think you and oobflyer have the most miles on the 2012 bikes by a good chunk.

96 mph was via drafting?

Even with drafting and a 12 kWh pack, 150 miles freeway probably requires some extra aerodynamic work. Are you looking at aero fairings?

Yes I have some aero work planned the next couple weeks.   96 mph was partial drafting of trucks that were going slower but using them as wind shields working my way through them

i don't seem to have a "copy image location" option with right click.  I have just "copy".

Got it!  under image properties, I see the url!!  This should work.

Very impressive Terry. That is great work and your trip might be a record for an electric motorcycle.

The editor of the free SF Bay Area monthly publication City Bike is thinking about making an electric motorcycle run between San Francisco and Los Angles to establish an record for that trip.  I didn't think he could do it but if you can go that sort of distance I guess it is possible.  You might want to contact Gabe Ets-Hokin at <gabe@citybike.com>. I'll bet he would be interested in a story about your trip. He an enthusiastic EV supporter.

Truly inspiring journey, Terry! Thanks for the pics and updates.

Looking forward to your aero mods. My goal one day is to be able to make the 60-mile trip to Houston at 65 mph (the legal limit). Might be harder streamlining my taller DS, though.

For anyone who doesn't think elmotos are cool (not on this board natch), they should check out the pics of all the hot babes getting rides on Terry's Zero :)

And thanks Clic!  i'll try to post a picture here but lots more on the facebook page.  I actually have about 50 pics of "that" type I'll try to upload today in an Album:  http://www.facebook.com/lifeoffthegrid
