Hi Electric Cowboy,

now you have proved, your name "Electric Cowboy" is a full match. ;D

I have posted my Dash Board mod. http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=2163.msg7472#msg7472
And the space to twist the key is not much.

Your RFID Ignition is a perfect mod to eliminate the lack of space.

You did a nice work  8)

It's a cool hack, but I gotta agree with Trikester. Is there a reason for it (beyond that it's a cool hack), expecially given that the range of that RFID key fob seems especially short?

Yah, there is a little point... I don't need my key to start my bike :) That's the only point really. And the fact that it was fun. If I offended trikester with my extraordinarily unimpressive mod, I apologize, perhaps from now on I wont be as excited when I do things I think are awesome, or share them with people who might care... well... nahhh :D I don't think I can help it, I thought it was cool, and I like the encouragement people here offer. It is a positive motivational bump that other geeks out there think things are cool, and that is what moves our industry along. Keep encouraging a child's artwork, and maybe someday he will become an artist, or inspire someone else to become one.

Also FYI you don't need to use a key fob... and incase you missed the video link at the top, the RFID just starts the bike, you don't need it to keep it running, that would be unsafe while racing, or even while driving on the streets.

I was thinking about safety, how you turn it off when refuel, duh it's electric, it never need to go to petrol/gas station. LOL
How do you turn off with rf I'd tag?

Cool mod, so many times I gone to start bike and had gloves on and wet weather gear , and had to remove to get keys out of pockets.

I think it's pretty smart.  I left my key in my bike the other day!  :o :o  Luckily it (the bike and the key) was still there when I got back.  If I had a RFID fob that I could just keep in my pocket I'm thinking I'd like that feature alot.  Maybe also a hard On/Off Switch, like the ECO/Sport switch but for On/Off so I could work on the bike with the RFID fob in my pocket without the bike turning on.
I think Electric Cowboy could have a nice aftermarket accessory product on his hands!  ;)

I was thinking about safety, how you turn it off

This was a big concern for me as well since I race, I needed something that wasn't proximity based incase it went flying on the track ( this also holds true for on the road ) Its not like a car where if you drop it you just need to look for it. If you're on a canyon and it flys off over a cliff... your screwed. I also didn't want it to be possible for and accidental turn off either. So, I integrated a push switch for turning it off. RFID turns it on, push switch turns it off :)

Cool mod, so many times I gone to start bike and had gloves on and wet weather gear , and had to remove to get keys out of pockets.
I left my key in my bike the other day!  :o :o  Luckily it (the bike and the key) was still there when I got back.

I have done both of these! or gone down 15 flights and walked half way to the car park just to realize... shit... my key is on my desk!
But if I had RFID in my jacket/gloves which I NEVER ride without, I would have no problems :)

My 3 day coding spree has come to a marvelous ending point this evening :)

No photos, only video could do justice to this. Also, I know I spent no time on the pp design, it is just proof of concept.

And thanks everyone for all your positive feedback! I can keep myself entertained and excited doing this stuff all day ( and night ), but hearing positive words of encouragement really helps out.

ColoPaul mentioned adding an on/off switch for safety when working on the bike with the fob in his pocket. There already is one on the right handlebar.

Actually there is; I just didn't think ahead enough. As several have pointed out, with a 3-foot range, having this in your pocket, and a controller/dash power enable switch on the bike, would be highly convenient. I suppose you could use the existing red one on the handlebar, if you wired it to bring up dash/controller power rather than just enabling the throttle. I think you'd need something to keep the computer from getting schizophrenic when you were lashing things onto the seat or something, as you walked into and out of range.
