I am not sure if the perspective of the photo gives the wrong impression, but are the cases not too high?

The bags are high, (and the seat is the lower Corbin) but they are not flush against the frame and there is plenty of space between them and the seat.  Even if you sit all the way back, your legs are not touching the bags even though you are sitting between them.

Nice work BSD.  What I like is it looks like it would strengthen the whole tail section of the bike.  Does it cut down on any rattle sounds (like on my 2010 DS)?

Hi ed5000,

I have installed it only once with one case for a test ride. But the two endings at the tail have a connection plate which will be connected with the tail, Yes it make the bike more stable.

But if I had the information of Harlan before, I think I had saved a lot of time.

But on the other side do it yourself is also fun ;)

Those side bags are nice. But when are they officially available?

Also nobody talks about the top case, which for me is the most important since it is supposed to hold your helmet when you park somewhere. The side cases will never hold a helmet obviously....
Is there a top case in the works?

the page before (2) there is the photo of Harlans bike for a customer.

It has also the top case mounted.
You are right the side bags are much to small for a helmet.
But my aim is some space for commuting and I will install two chargers in the side bags when I have to make a longer trip with quick recharging on the way.

Since I said that I was going to give an update on my experience with the Givi hard case side bags here it goes.  No news yet.

Steve Beaudry said initially that it would be two weeks out and when that passed he said it would be another 2 weeks.  Now that that too has passed I sent a note on Friday but I've not heard back.  No money has changed hands but I had hoped to have them a ways back.

Is anyone having any luck with the alternatives?

I have had many customers inquire about hard cases for their bikes.  Today I installed a Givi Wingrack on a customer's 2011 Zero S.  Took a while to figure out how to mount it but fits nice!  I've got a few of these racks on order, they are compatible with all Monokey cases, you can contact me if you'd like to reserve one.  Check out the giviusa.com website for all the different cases available.

Wingrack:

Monokey Side Bags:

Monokey Top Cases:

Harlan, do you think this kit would work on a 2012? The 2012 frame looks very similar to a 2011, but I can't be sure.

You can mount the Wingrack using the Universal Fitting Kit but it is not a straight forward install.  I actually installed the kit on a customers 2012 Zero S this weekend, but it was really busy so I forgot to take a picture of the kit installed.  Maybe he'll post a pic as I know he lurks these forums.

Which of the wing rack models did you install, and what mounting kit did it take?  Would same setup work on my 2012 DS?  After emailing Mr Beaudry two times, I haven't got any reply...

Thanks!   ::)

ok I posted the link above.
Things to look for:

-rack + top box installed by Dealer
-front LED light (looks cooler), and can be switched off
-tail mud guard removal and LED tail light with turn signals + brake light in the same housing

LEt me know what you guys think.
